Thats because there is no GPU, meaning the iGPU is using system memory to run the games. Therefore, even a slightly better memory will hugely increase FPS since that memory is being used as video memory. If you are using a GPU, the difference will be minimal.

It is definitely not worth spending 100 bucks to buy another RAM stick just for having a dual channel memory configuration.

The main thing is that in less optimized games you get 10 more fps with dual channel but in avg we get 15-20 fps more but in games like warzone you can get 35 more fps in dual channel.

Hey I have 2 questions, first: Would this configuration work? -Channel one: 2 sticks of 8GB (both slots populated) -Channel two: 1 stick of 16GB (1 slot populated, 1 empty) All modules would be the same brand, speed, latency. The total size would be equal on both channels but just allocated differently. Second question, can you use two different (size) RAM kits? Example: -Channel one: Slot 1: 8GB Slot 2: 2GB -Channel two: Slot 3: 8GB Slot 4: 2GB 1&3 are identical with each other and 2&4 are identical aswell. All modules the same brand, speed, latency. Just different sizes. Would this work without problems? Is it recommended? And what if the kits are completely different? I'm guessing the speed of all would adjust to the lowest, but would it work at all?

Answer to first question: yes indeed both configurations would work. (by channel I'm assuming you're saying option) but the 1 16 GB module will have half the bandwidth (speed) as the 2 8gb ones. Here's a crude example: Dual channel means there's two lanes and therefore twice the efficiency as single Channel is a single lane. Answer to the second question: Yes they would indeed work! But you might run into problems with different brands models and speeds of ram as they might complicate the Timings. i just plug into my laptop a second ram, and it gives me much more performance =) in gta 5 it was ~90fps on high in singleplayer and ~60fps in multiplayer, now it is ~110 and ~75 (high settings, x4 msaa) in fortnite it was 70-90 on epic with microfreezes and dlss wasn't helping me. now it's about 120 fps on epic, and 144 on high-epic (with dlss on performance) in cs go it was about 170 everywhere and now it is about 350-420 fps. on high my laptop is acer nitro 5 an515-45 Ryzen 5 5600h RTX 3060 mobile (85w) 6gb 16gb ram (was 8) 3200mhz 22-22 timings nvme m2. ssd 512gb wd

something that i want to see is this igpu when the ddr5 or maybe ddr6 arrives to the market, in normal conditions i can see that better bandwith allows u better performance when u have dual channel, but no one cant say to me that only cuz u got it on dual channel u are stressing the igpu to his maximun performance, i mean, i think they can give u much more power but the bandwith its a problem yet. And its amazing how the cpu usage of that ryzen 3200g gets lower when u have dual channel config, and getting double fps in all test.

I need to know your opinion on this: When I have only 3x RAM modules connected to 8GB, 8GB in total = a total of 24GB of total memory. Of which 2x8GB modules are definitely connected in dual channel but of which 1x8GB is connected to only one module. And I can't connect another ram to the fourth module because my obstacle is too large a CPU cooler with a fan. Otherwise I would have a total of 32GB of ram. Will there not be any slowdowns or other performance issues when I have it involved as much as possible? Wouldn't it be better to leave only 2x8GB = 16GB in dual channel? I'm not an expert, I can't judge if the third module somehow doesn't slow down the PC

No problem. You can literally ad any size in GB like 8+2, 8+4, 16.8GB...doesnt matter. Also, you can put any frequency the CPU supports, but if you are an intel guy, chance is your CPU only goes up till 2666Mhz. Ryzen goes far beyond 3000Mhz and is cheaper. I got a Ryzen 2 2600 on sale for 115$ since the arrival of Ryzen 3000 series got it down, and it takes 3400Mhz. Speed of RAM is just as and even more important than size. 8GB 3400Mhz will smoke a 16GB 2133Mhz. If your CPU supports only up till 2133Mhz and you buy a 2400Mhz or higher, its ok, as the CPU will automatically downgrade it to 2133Mhz. When pairing RAM into dual, triple or quad channel, the three things that matter are 1) how many channels does the CPU suport (some only dual channel), 2) the V (Volts), and 3) the CL value - You cant match a CL15 with a CL16 etc. (Sometimes, mostly not) For example: a 8GB 2133Mhz CL15 will pair with a 8GB 2400Mhz CL15, but not a 8GB 2666Mhz CL16. A friend has 8+4GB, I have 8+8GB. Dual channel can give your games from usually 10FPS boost to like even 30FPS or more depending on the game.

Some CPUs take only certain Mhz e.g the laptops CPU Intel i5 6300hq only takes 2133mhz DDR4. You can't make it higher. If you put a 2400mhz in the laptop, the CPU will lower it to 2133mhz. But... Certain CPU's lulike ryzen 5 1600 state on their site that it takes up to 2666mhz, but I can OC my ram thru xmp in the bios to 3200. My ram is 3200 Mhz but default it's 2400 in bios.

My ryzen 5 1600 6 core 3.4ghz according to AMD official site supports up to 2666mhz. But it actually can manage 3200nhz or even more. I got it tested. But like 2-3x a week my PC crashes. My ram is natively 3200mhz. In bios, I have 2 options. The stock option keeps it at 2400mhz, enabling the xmp makes it work at 3200mhz. Since I set it to 2400mhz my doesn't crash. However what's the point of having a 3200mhz run at 2400mhz. And so I kinda managed to work in the bios and set it to 3000 (2933mhz) and I get beat of both worlds. No crashes and almost full speed. I'm not strong on overclocking so I can't tell you how to do those things. BTW when the ram was 3200, my cpu has 33 Celsius idle. On 2400mhtbram the cpu is 27 Celsius idle. That's a plus.

John Lix I wouldnt say smoothly but it will definitely be playable.Vega IGPUs really thrive with dual channel.You should see a noticeable increase in performance in many games.From what I have seen anywhere from 5-25 fps increase.

Yes it will work fine 720p on fortnite will be around 90 to 120 fps
