Looks good to me. Adding CarPlay in older cars is a complete game changer and makes them so much more usable. I don’t care that it looks more modern than the car if I can tell where I’m going, easily listen to my tunes and don’t need something on my windscreen or wires visible anywhere. Completely understand though if others don’t care about what I care about and prefer something else in their cars. To each their own.

True that! Makes them more usable. I drive this car much more than I thought I would and this unit has been fantastic

I don't have any cars with a single-DIN radio anymore, but I'm glad these retrofits are available. Honestly, it's still quite attractive, even if it doesn't blend perfectly with the rest of the interior.

Yeah its nice that something more elegant is finally available

very nice! just did this last week to my '89 560SL... cool update is changing the boot screen logo. there are a couple of videos on KZbin, and via google search.... Mine now boots to the period correct Mercedes logo, adding more personalization and fitting with the era. great video!

I was just wondering how this would fit in my w124 right when you said they fit great. something like this is exactly what ive been looking for. Carplay may seem like a small thing but its just so nice to have once your used to it.

I came across a 124 on a forum post with this radio and honestly it looks better than it does in my 129. Sits more flush in the 124 stack, kind of like how it does in the E36s

You should get one of those single din flipout radio screens. They are kinda stealthy and have a nice screen
@SamAbrahamАй бұрын
Those are a cool concept I'm just not a fan of how they look
@erikpetermansАй бұрын
@@SamAbraham Yeah fair. I like them a lot personally because if you don't need the screen, it's very stealthy and looks like your average aftermarket radio. But when needed it pops out a cool 7" touch display and makes you car very usefull in modern days. Especially with carplay

Glad I found this while debating the same thing! Just curious if you ended up routing the USB cable because I understood that's how you do firmware upgrades and where you placed it.
@SamAbraham22 күн бұрын
Never ran the USB cable, didn't think about the firmware updates. Assumed it would update via wifi like my other head units, but this one isn't android based to my knowledge so I guess that makes sense. That being said I've found these things stay more reliable with less updates for whatever reason lol. I'll consider routing it elsewhere at some point

No volume knob is a no go for me.
@SamAbrahamАй бұрын
That's all it needs. Originally bothered me, but if you click the button you can swipe across the screen to increase or decrease, doesn't require looking at it either which is nice

lol, wasn't originally planning on keeping this radio which is why I temporarily used those connectors
