Super job. I have hull #214, what size engine do you have? My Vanguard was fitted by the previous owner with a Yanmar 16hp twin cylinder diesel but I am not sure I can get your speed - thanks! It is really awesome to see you out getting it done. I am 66 and I plan to move my boat to the Charleston area in another year so I can do some of what you are doing - really inspiring! I grow tired of seeing million dollar Cats having all the fun!

I have a Beta Marine 20 with a 3-8-14 PROP. Thank you for the comment and cheers to getting it done, from hull 151.

Just curious what hull number is your Vanguard? Mine was hull #321 - I spent two and a half years singlehanded through Mexico and parts of the Pacific - after purchasing UHURU I took out the Atomic4 and repowered with a Yanmar diesel - great move! Fair winds to you 👍🏼⛵️

Why even have a "sail" boat?
@Pearsonvanguard32sailing7 ай бұрын
Motorsailing is in the title of the video. Were you expecting to see more sailing or are you deciding on a motor vs sail boat purchase by asking this question? If the latter the sailboats are less expensive to operate and more stable in ruff sees👍

@leecowell9165 Did you just wake up from anesthesia? Because theres not always wind and not everyone wants to float around for 4 days when you can motor and be home in 3 days you donut brain.

Motor sailing solves the problem of too little/much wing or wind blowing the wrong way. He also said he had fuel to make the whole trip, so fuel conservation wasn't a factor. Exclusive sailing is for leisurely cruising when speed isn't an issue and ocean crossings where it's not economical to maintain fuel for the whole trip. If you're on a deadline (or outrunning a storm) exclusive sailing doesn't make sense. They put engines on sailboats for a reason.
