I'm surprised nobody mentioned Bullfrog's Dungeon Keeper in their retrospective look at the origins of the genre. You talk about building a maze for enemies to run the gauntlet, DK from 1997 (!) is the OG. They Are Billions was way too frustrating for me due to the lack of a save feature. But I look forward to the release of Diplomacy Is Not an Option. Just one more month to go! Oh, and I'm LOLing at the AI outro right now. Good job on that! 😂

I can comprehend "Frost Punk" as a tower defense, but I'm not an expert or one that plays these types of games.
