No apology needed. I find it incredible that you manage to do these vlogs at all! I’ve just been catching up with your updates. I’m sorry you’ve needed more surgery. I understand you’ve had a treatment change also..? How’s that going? The friend I told you about is having a really hard time on her meds - Ribociclib plus aromatase inhibitor. She’s had several delays in starting new cycles due to side effects. She’s having another scan today and Oncologist on Wednesday. Can’t remember if I mentioned that I had a grade 3 breast cancer with lymph node involvement getting on for 16 years ago. I made the decision to have bilateral mastectomies (with axillary clearance on affected side), as well as both ovaries and tubes removed. I was convinced I had a BRCA gene mutation, which turned out to be the case. The mastectomies were relatively straightforward, as was the radiation. It was the chemo I found the most challenging. I only had 6 cycles. I’m therefore in awe of you and your stoicism on this long journey. I’m keeping everything crossed that your cancer will give you a break - a very long one! Which part of your overall treatment have you found the most challenging? Hoping 2025 is a great one for you and your family. ❤️

Samantha, thank you for posting the video. You are a dear. I laughed when you said this would be a boring video. It's a sad day when a video about a mastectomy is boring. I love every one of your updates. I found your channel when you announced your pregnancy. I have an adult daughter, 35 years old that was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in her brain when she was 24, it nearly killed her. She is doing well despite one relapse and she has one child also. It makes me feel closer to you thank you and please keep posting videos.❤

I had left breast mastectomy last March and right breast mastectomy in November last year. No pain or problem with left one but needed a drain with the right one. I ended up with a cord and needed strong painkiller- tramadol. 2 weeks were very painful but am now recovering well. I did not go with reconstruction as recovery time is very long and it is not always successful. Good luck with your recovery.

My mom had a single L MX without recon at age 78. Her recovery went so smoothly that it took a lot of fear out of it for me. When I was diagnosed a few years later, I chose a BMX with recon, and found it challenging at times, but less frightening than I would have had she not gone before me. Hope the new year brings you improved health and tons of beautiful moments with your family. ❤

So sorry for the lack of updates. Thanks for being patient and hope you are well!
@maggieg57193 күн бұрын
Samantha, you have nothing to apologize for. I am just grateful you are still with us to give us updates. I’m almost at my three year mark from my breast cancer surgery. I had a lumpectomy in the left breast, lymph node removal, and radiation treatments. After a point it gets monotonous updating just my family, and I cut and paste the same text to all of them. Then I got to a point where I just want to live life and to stop going to all my doctor appointments, scans, and bloodwork. I just finished all that, so I am grateful I can breathe for another six months. I’m not going to lie, this little thing in the back of my head keeps rearing its ugly head reminding me of how much closer I’m getting to my five-year mark. I say this because at the five-year mark is when the cancer sometimes reappears. I do my best to put it out of my mind by staying busy, exercising, working, etc. I will keep praying for you and your family. Please stay strong for yourself and all of us. 😘❤️

Hey Samantha! 🥰I’ve been following your journey and I admire your strength and positivity although challenging I’m sure! You might have already addressed this in other videos and I’m sorry if I didn’t catch it. Was there a reason why you didn’t have a MX from the beginning of your journey and chose a lumpectomy to avoid reoccurring findings. Not sure again if you already addressed this. Praying and wishing you a speedy recovery. ❤️🩹 ❤️🩹❤️🩹 Much love 💕
@SamanthaL3 күн бұрын
Hey! I have a very old video called “Scan Results & Surgery Decision” where I explain why I chose a lumpectomy back in 2019. The main reason was because I was stage 4 already and a mastectomy wouldn’t improve my survival odds. It was also a much longer recovery time which meant I wouldn’t be able to move onto radiation as quickly and my doctors thought that starting radiation as fast as possible would improve my chances.
@Sarappreciates3 күн бұрын
Wow, Samantha, it sounds like you've really been through a lot. (HUGS!) I'm glad you're doing okay again after recovery. You cruise sounds amazing!! Walking after most surgeries I've had was always encouraged, so I don't see anything wrong with taking a stroll if you felt okay. You've been through so many surgeries by now that you likely know your body well enough to make that decision. Also, I just started Capecitabine this month, and I think I've heard you talk about being on this drug before. If you don't mind me asking, did you have trouble with any side effects? 💕Wishing you all the best!!
@SamanthaL3 күн бұрын
I am on it currently and have very few (if any) side effects! I’ve been slowly increasing the dose and haven’t really had any issues. I hope it goes well for you!
@Sarappreciates2 күн бұрын
@@SamanthaL Thanks! Today I began my second week on it. I go 7 days on and 7 days off, which my insurance company denied saying they want me on it for a full 14 days with 7 days off, and my oncologist says their way leads to more side effects. Do you take it every other week, or some other cycle?
