"I don't know what it is but it's gross." There is so much ignorance in this video, I'm ashamed I watched it. This segment promotes the idea that because it's not familiar to you, it must be gross or unusual and that's problematic. Millions of people enjoy these items you picked out. I normally love your show but this is unacceptable. You went to a market, picked out items you're unfamiliar with, and immediately decided the items were gross because you were unfamiliar with them. Thank god for Ryan Paevey for providing some enlightenment. Grass jelly is delicious to eat either in a drink or as a dessert. "Gluten" is an asian vegetarian favorite but because you're eating it uncooked and unseasoned, of course it doesn't taste good. Beef balls and fish paste (usually formed into, yes, balls and then boiled) are wonderful additions to noodle dishes or soup, as are quail eggs. That dehydrated duck should be steamed or rehydrated before being eaten, much like how dried mushrooms are reconstituted. Microaggressions and implicit biases are an unfortunate fact of life but you don't need to contribute to perpetuating them. This video is offensive to every person of color who brought to school a lunch that was unfamiliar to their classmates and prompted reactions of "eww, what is that?
