People used to be able to raise a baby with almost no money. Cloth diapers, breastfeed, sewed baby clothes and used hand-me-downs used family cradles, baby beds, high chairs, and a baby might have 2 or 3 handmade toys. I am not saying that everyone should go back to that way but it would be a base for the bare minimum required then add the "extras". A baby doesn't know or care if you spent $200 for baby items or thousands.

I stay home so we're raising our kids on less. They don't need designer clothes or the latest fads. They don't need the $800 stroller when the gently used $100 one works just as well. None of those things matter to them.

It doesn't cost anywhere near what they say it does for babies if you are smart. Buy from thrift store--it's better brand names for a fraction of the original price. Go to yard sales. When my parents were having kids they had no money for anything but the necessities. This is an extreme example but people used to pull out a large drawer, line it with lots of blankets and that was the "bassinet". They would change their babies using towel on floor--lol

I see people complaining about the mom choosing to raise Jude by herself who she got from a sperm donor because he will lack a father. Y’all are forgetting her dad is consistently in her and Jude’s life. Grandpa seems like he would be a good father figure for now. Any good mature, respectful man with good morals who can lead by example could be a great father figure in a child’s life. Just because Jude lacks a biological father doesn’t mean he can’t have a father figure guide him later. I doubt Jude’s mother is still single like she is when this was filmed, she may have gotten married. Jude will be just fine.

There are so many ridiculous choices and expenses Melanie made as a single Mom. Gail addressed the majority, but I want to comment on the Baby Agent. I have worked as a Talent Agent for 20 years with clients in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary. First off, most agents want babies/toddlers who are identical twins or triplets, so one child is not working more than 4 hrs/a day. That is the Law for children under a certain age. They also like twins/triplets so the child can be rotated if one is too fussy at any particular moment. Secondly, Parents don't understand that you can have the most beautiful baby/child in the World, but if they are shy, cranky or not comfortable around strangers, the child will not get any Work. Although , Jude seemed to have a lovely attitude, babies/children, grow and change quickly. Thirdly, no reputable Agent is going to charge you a monthly fee, especially $53 a month to have the baby on their Roster. Melanie is delusion with Stars in her eyes. Her Baby Agent fees were a complete and dubious waste of money. I can pretty much guarantee the only role Jude starred in was on this program. Just a word of advice for Moms and Parents who are considering getting a Baby Agent.

Back then Pot Pies were 10 for a dollar and I use to spend $2. a week on them and that's what I ate for almost a year. I learned to bake them ahead in hot weather and would eat them cold. I also did my wash in the bathtub and hung it up to dry. I felt rich when at 18, 5 months before I graduated in 1970, I found out I could donate plasma and increase my income. @@daniellebrooks3670 wow tips. 1) one size fits all is not true for kids 8lbs and under. So do find the smaller infants size cloth diaper. 2) do get the disposable cloths you put on the top closer to the kids skin. Way helps with the poop issue. 3) never did the sprayer( or bio inserts) so no clue if it helps or not. 4) cloth diapers can make good swim diapers( even the brand may make some) 5) adjustable leg gussets are the best!! 6) buy used if you can, to try diffrent types to find what works for your kiddo. 7) sooner than later the microfiber inserts/ diapers will get stinkey. So follow the washing instructions. 8) if you use them right you can get up to 3 kids in and out of cloth with one 50 diapers. 9) if you don't like to take time to stuff pocket diapers, many have options for folds with covers( grovia, flips) 10) the patterns and colors and the sheer cuteness can get overwhelming. So be carefull. 11) there are diaper services now. That may also be an option. Don't get me wrong I would have a month or two where I would brake down and get disposable diapers.( then I would figure out my stink issue and start from square one)

@@daniellebrooks3670 I prefer snaps, to velcro. But the brand grovia, has the "one" diaper. It gives you the options for both velcro and snaps(came out after my kids were done.) If you have a great routine for laundry, then this is just a diffrent load. (Top load is best). Personally I would NOT believe everything you would read on a mom only cloth diaper forum.( people be crazzy). But yes buying used depending on condition. Will cost 1/3 to 1/2 of origional price. No lie I have about 40+ new and unused cloth diapers, left over. I went wild. Do the sales( brand new from company) also keep the waranty and the dated of the ones you bought new. It will save you bank, I put in a warranty issue and got a bunch of new diapers for like almost free. Dry in the sun if you can. It helps with natural beaching. Also with smell. ( a goal I didn't get to do as much) but helps with energy. Any more questions?..... I ment a stash of about 50 diapers. Oh and yes a kid can get a yeast infection with them... but it is a lot less than disposeable.

Right now I can survive on $100 dollars a week on Groceries feeding a Family of 3. Shouldn't be a problem even back then for 1 person to live on $33 on food a week.
@amandalitster7713 Жыл бұрын
Uh no. Here in Canada you would be at the food bank if you were trying to eat off 33$ a week 😥 even 100$ a week is pushing starvation
@coldpower27 Жыл бұрын
Yeah been trying to live away from parents and it is $250 a month for just breakfast item for 2 people. A realistic budget for Canadians in 2022 is $150 a week for 2 which would be $75 for a single person. Grocery has gone up a lot!

This is why being informed pays off. I see any market condition as an opportunity, so far I just DCA. I will still be in profits even though I decided to sell today as my average is way lower. Credits to my Financial Advisor 'Margaret Daisy Richard '. I don't pay attention to the day to day movements & Returns have been good. Not retiring any time soon so who cares what happens today?

As a finance guy I happened upon this thread to see if you were legit or full of ship. Your advice here is very solid. It's actually the same playbook I've been telling my family to use. Nice work! Trying times are ahead, and good personal financial management will be very important to weather the Strom. It would be very a innovative suggestion to look out for Financial advisor like "Margaret Daisy Richard" who can help shape up your portfolio.

I want one baby in in the future, but while the baby hasn't come, I am planning to put myself first so realistically I will need to be keep my course and save half a mil by 40 then stop my retirement savings and save two years of my expenses plus the cost of diapers, formula, toys, and clothes for the baby. Hopefully I won't have to do it alone but if I did, am looking at 70k.

I understand her decision. Other women treat you like sh*t when you don't have kids after a certain age. But, clearly, she is very emotionally immature and accustomed to getting what she wants while relying on other people to take up the slack when her decisions don't work out.

I rented a room from a single mom before. Her young son became horribly depressed once he started kindergarten and saw all the other dads. I came home one day to him crying, the phone book filled with marker scribbles. He couldn't read yet but was desperately seeking his father.
