It was the greatest lecture that i've seen about this topic I really needed to understand how it works by real fibers instead of just seeing some slides ❤

Any thought on the size of a photon? Could they be large or very large but the detection efficiency low?

Photons are energy. Energy doesn't have a size.

@@schmetterling4477 Photons have momentum, can be discreet (photoelectric effect) or wavelike (interference). The wavelength can be miles long (radio) or discreet (gamma). But no size?

@@jamesstewart7212 Photons are irreversible energy transfers between an electromagnetic field and an external system. A photon never shows interference effects. Only the quantum mechanical ensemble of an em field does. Most people, many physicists included, are having a hard time distinguishing between one photon and many (the ensemble).

Please provides the answers. How single photon can be produced from a continuous laser source ??? Explain in details pl Can we use pulse laser as an replacenent of single photon source , if not how these two differ???
@schmetterling44772 жыл бұрын
A photon is simply an irreversible energy transfer between an electromagnetic field and an external system. It doesn't take a laser or a pulsed source to detect a photon and a single detection will tell us absolutely nothing about the source.

The delusion of the "single photon". There is no such thing. The size of a "single photon" is always relative to the emitting particle's energy, and the energy received by that particle.

problem is, most of this is defined by MATH.. If you are in college, and want to pass, you do what the *ancient* books say... 'reality' has nothing to do with it.. and do note 'energy' has only a level, and 'size' has a level AND length..

46:34 totally and absolutely wrong. Read Steinmetz, Faraday and Maxwell and then Tesla. None of this is true. That's the part when relativity breaks down and quantum becomes a dumb thing. There is a spacial void between the two plates and only blue light can traverse through the because of its wave length properties. Lower frequency light bends more when it comes in contact with the magnet field, so you never see a connection of the circuit.
