Glad to see you're using an adjustable grid resistor, it's a great addition. I will use it for all my one-tube transmitters. BTW, here's a small hint if you want to hear how your crystal is keying - listen to the 2nd harmonic (or even 3rd). That multiplies any chirp and also helps keep the receiver from being overloaded. Finally, have you seen any of my posts on FB about using the ebay "1W" and "2W" chokes in transmitters? They seem to work just fine, every bit as good as the old pi-wound chokes. I do use two in series in the plate circuit to divide the plate RF voltage across two of the smaller chokes.

@@Novice1965 I’ll check the FB page out. Yes those pi-wound chokes are getting rarer and more expensive. My choke I wound myself (care of info from Pete JULIANO of Solder Smoke podcast fame) video on my channel, nice to have options thanks 🙏 and 73. I did a crystal grind recently … video soon 73.

@@beautifulsmall Yes…. Lots of fun stuff and affordable. Yes you also get the occasional product of questionable quality but overall it has fuelled many projects via parts including very affordable microcontrollers. 73 and thanks for stopping by.

@ I haven’t had a moment free to get on the air myself. Today I’ll be swapping out the radiator fan. Means I won’t have to run the heaters to keep the car cool on 30-40C days whilst sitting in traffic.

@ That Merc has as much personality as my TS 520 😂. It’ll be great once the bugs are ironed out.

@ yeah. The rear left quarter pillar trim fell off (I suspect). Need to find a local wrecker with one that isn’t in the US with $150 of postage. Speaking of postage, I only acquired 3 keys this year….from eBay. But that’s OK, I grabbed an Ibanez Blazer P bass and an Artist Tele with their humbucker pickups. The loophole I used to keep The Keeper at bay….they were for Felix :-)

Got a schematic of your gizmo????
@TheArtofEngineering20 күн бұрын
It’s based on the AMECO (link below). When when I’m done playing I might do one with all the tweaks but basically mine is the schematic below (link) but powered from 13.8 v shack PSU. The 13.8V is fed into car inverter to upconvert to 220v AC… this is rectified and filtered to give high DC plate voltage. The cathode heater voltage is 6v L7806 3pin regulator fed with 13.8V DC. 73 www.qsl.net/wb1gfh/ameco.html
