that was a great match. very back and forth, both competitors showing a broad and deep breadth of knowledge. totally unpredictable, and a largely respectful display of talent skill and a little bit of luck. props to oyama in particular for remaining cool and focused throughout. he remained unratteled and many competitors in the past have shown that getting frazzled and inside your own head can be the biggest crux against you. it's the top elite who don't let that happen. paul proved today that he joins the elite tier - him, erwin, dan and bibs are that tier (note that i'm talking singles only). dan's post match interview was great and so true - you can tell that he was drawing from his own experience of having that target.....even in retirement! paired with his legacy speech on inside schmoedown (which was even more awesome) really gives an insight to his mindset right now. i think he cashes in the title shot in new york. and shout out to rmb as commish....which i'm already loving! as fun as his "this is just a blatant power trip" angle is, his first act is to give himself ongoing job security in creating a tournament commissioner and introduce A WRITTEN HARDCOPY RULEBOOK FOR IMMEDIATE REFERENCE ON HAND. FUCKING YEEESSSS YOU LEGEND! that should have been done years ago!

Great match. I'm not surprised by the result, I had this feeling Murrell was going to lose. Plus, unfortunately The Horsemen have always been cursed SMH. Since he came out of retirement he can either be flawless or wishy washy. Oyama did a great job, he killed that speed round. He may be the fastest we have seen when it comes to that. I also like seeing new records being made, so it's nice to see the youngest champion now. Kaiser is doing a great job as a manager, and since Ken and Korruption are so jealous of him this must really piss them off lol. Especially when they kept trying to act like Chance would be the first fan to get a belt but since he's been nothing but a disappointment most of the time, that was out. I liked Oyama's reaction when Murrell gave him the belt. It was nice how humbled and happy he looked (first time seeing some emotion from him) I hope he faces Sneider in the future. Mike already gets too many damn (Championship) matches gift wrapped to him and well, considering how much of a losing jinx Bateman is we already know the result of that match zzz. I also loved Murrell's advice to Oyama in his post interview, that was great and truthful advice. Things like that is one of the many reasons I love and respect Murrell so much. Wisdom and respect like that is sadly becoming rare in the Schmoedown. Please don't change Murrell.
@scamrasc5 жыл бұрын
wishy washy?.....um, murrell's been playing lights out good. this was still a strong game, and he had the lead going into the final round. he just got hard 3 and 5 pointers. it happens. his accuracy was high throughout. same with the team match - murrell was strong but rocha had a terrible round 1, and then they got opponents choice playing opposite a perfect game and still racked in 30 points! his last weak match was when ethan tko'd him, and you have to go all the way back to last year's tournament for that! he's been consistently great ever since.

It sucks that Dan was ahead or tied during every round until the end. I don't like how the third/fifth round is the most important yet has the least competition between the two players. If Paul and Dan were asked the same question and Paul got it and Dan didn't, the win would feel more valid.
@otter135 жыл бұрын
Yea unfortunately the last round has a big Luck of the Draw factor to it. Not sure how to fix that tho, if u go to the asking the same question, it's just like round 1. I guess the point/difficulty difference in each question would be different than round 1.
@sivad10255 жыл бұрын
@@otter13 My suggestion is to give the option to "throw" the question. In other words, you make the opponent answer. If they get it right, they gain (for example) 5 points. But lose 5 if it's wrong. That way if one person has an easy question and the other has a hard question, the points all cancel out. For this match, Dan could have given Paul his 5 pointer. Because it was so hard, I doubt Paul knew it. Then Paul would have his 5 pointer. If he knew it, he would win fair and square. If not, he could give it to Dan and Dan would have to get a right answer to win. At least this way, they both have a chance to answer the same questions.
@otter135 жыл бұрын
@@sivad1025 could be interesting. That could be some huge point swings happening... big gambles.
@sivad10255 жыл бұрын
@@otter13 I think it's both fair and exciting. Easy/hard=(+5-5)/0 Easy/easy=+5/+5 Hard/hard=-5/-5 So really, it comes down to, who knows the hard questions or doesn't the easy questions. Then for the medium difficulty questions you would finally get real strategy in the Schmoedown where you have to weigh your chances and decide whether or not your opponent could get a correct answer. I think that would be way more exciting than seeing 2 sets of 3 questions answered completely individually with ridiculously varying degrees of difficulty.
