well put! it's so mentally freeing being on a single geared bike. fixed gears have such a nice flow to the ride as well.

@@aidenb8890 Ya. I agree. I think all bicycles have there place. But from a freeing simplicity it's hard to beat a single gear bike.

I appreciate the inteligent explanation of the feel of the bikes.

I'll take that as a compliment. Because I never feel smart about anything I do.

Cool handlebars! What are they?

Origin8 Tiki Bars is the brand and model name. The style is called a mustache bar. There's alot of brands that make mustache bars. Nitro and Soma are two bigger named brands that also make them. They are a very comfortable bar for me.

@@albikes8484 gotta say they do look really comfy with the back sweep and all. But what I really wanna know is those brake levers! What are they? They're like bar ends?
@albikes84849 ай бұрын
@@jotikol6177 They are bar end mounted levers. These style levers are used with time trial and Triathlon style biked. Companies like cane creek dia comp and origin8 make them. I prefer this style lever on mustache bars. You can use standard road bike hoods. Which most people do. But I don't find them as comfortable as the time trial brakes. Depending on the style of bike will dictate lever choice. If you plan on using gears. Like bar end shifters. You'll have to use standard levers. If you are using downtube shifters or single speed.. Then the TT Brake levers are great. And STI shifters are also an option.

@@steelisreal4313 I know you'll have fun with it. I remember that brand. I'm pretty sure it was an online brand vs a bike shop brand. I knew someone that had a road bike and it was well spec'd.

that's so true...single speeds let's you think less and bike more...it should be as simple as that to enjoy cycling.

Subscribed a few months ago when you were working with your fuji; what is your current gear ratio on a single speed?
@albikes84844 ай бұрын
@@griffincui On my single speed freewheel bike I think I'm around a 2.8 to one. 46 ring and a 16 freewheel. My fixies are all over the place. I tend to like that 2.8 range.

Been riding single speed for a bit this season. I agree with your points! They are harder on hilly terrain, but build leg strength much faster, and are super simple!

Fixed is just too dangerous to ride on traffic, dont let those videos in NY fool you, that place is the easiest and safest to ride in the world
@albikes84847 ай бұрын
Ive ridden NYC in traffic on both fixed and free. I dont find NYC to difficult to ride. Ive got many years of Fixed confidence built up. Wether thats a good or bad thing. Im not sure. I do know this. If you ride in a more defensive fashion vs just flying through intersections. Youll probably be safer. lol Thank you for commenting.
