The perfect vid as I decide if I should get an XT for my wife. In watching, I might just leave my 500 or 990 at home once in a while and take this little guy out instead. Thanks!

This is a great little bike & a lot of people add a rear rack but if ya do add one to this bike, make sure it's a rack that allows you to keep the handles/grips on the back. A 2nd rider might hang onto them & use them for strapping the bike down when hauling it. But perhaps the biggest reason to leave it on the bike - pulling the bike out from under a fallen tree.... lol, I saw you grab them & so many people have to remove them for a rack they bought. Keep them b/c they are very useful = Yamaha actually got a lot on this bike Right ! peace

Good call out. That was my thought too and why I haven’t stuck a rack on yet. I notice most of them delete the rear handles but I use those handles all the time even to strap stuff down. I think I would try to fabricate something up myself before buying something that removes the handles. Definitely came in handy under the tree lol

Yepper's, the rear handles helps to keep your lady friend on back plus a few other reasons but you've got to watch out for adding a Tail Tidy and/or a Rear Rack b/c both can cause toy to lose the handles so make sure you get the right parts? peace

There are 2-3 racks available for the XT250 that do not take the handles off. I saw one recently although I can't tell you the name. But before you make that jump, know there's options that leave those pull bars on the bike. Not many bikes put a set of handles on the rear so this was well thought out. I'm not on a bike yet as I'm saving for one BUT I have a small strap & a tiny triple pulley that can hoist 1,000lbs & if ya dropped a bike in the mud as long as you can reach a tree or stationary object, you can set even a heavy bike up. I'd never worry on the road but alone on a mountain, perhaps I'd carry that. I just woke, coffee time & looking thru your stuff. peace

My current bike and the dream bike if someone else would do all my maintenance and pay for it 🤣

Agreed lol. The 501 is a monster of a bike but those service intervals are a little scary 😬. I do wish the XT was longer on valve check but at least it’s pretty simple to do.
