3.Teil meines Filmes "Ein Gesang aus fernen Weiten" (45 Min.)
A few years ago I drove to the lake Hornborga to Sweden to film cranes. There I saw for the first time whooper swans. Later I read the book "Singschwan, der Schicksalsvogel" (finnish titel: Laulujoutsen, Ultima Thulen Lintu") the Finnish writer "Yrjö Kokko" from 1950. He describes his efforts to find in Finland nor a brooding Whooper Swan pair to photograph it. At that time there were in Finland not many whooper swans. Through the book, the Finns were attentive on the swans and the hunt for swans was prohibited. Since then there is again a lot of whooper swans in Finland.
When the lakes freeze over in Scandinavia, the swans come in the north of Germany to spend the "warmer" winter.
I had the idea for a film to tell about this. The film shows the swans in November in nordwest in Germany. In February I followed them to the river "Elbe" in Germany and later in May / June to Sweden.
