Icefrog looked at HS and realised that actually, it doesn't matter if your game is like 50-70% a dice roll, it can still be considered esports. So he added as many dice rolls in the game he reasonably could add in a singular patch.

I don't understand IceFrog either. Why add a pseudo-random distribution item packs on a MOBA game. Now the game is turning into a luck game instead of a skill game.

@@decromanger28 It adds more variety to each game, as you have to adapt to whatever items the enemy drops during the game. It kinda feels like the sort of mechanics you'd see in a board game; not sure if it works for Dota, though.

The neutral items are rng but it's not worth to farm forever in the jungle, the drop rate reduces after each drop and becomes abysmal.

@@unmercy2326 not gonna deny that there may be some games whereby a lucky drop may bail a team out, but to a certain extent you can control it. If you control the jungle and the enemy team is not able to farm then you essentially lower their chance of neutral items to 0. Of course this is very unlikely to happen but I'm just trying to illustrate that you can make the chance work in your favour more. Personally I like it that games can vary more now instead of every game feeling more or less the same, and it also punishes turtling very hard and make an early aggressive takeover more rewarding. And no, I'm not part of those who get lucky, I get first bashed by void quite often and have little bash of my own when I play bara, and I don't even have dota plus to boost my rng.

Yeah, 11k+ into the game and I actually don't know if I want to play any more. Sure, sure, people will do the "omg everyone say that after every patch", but no patch has ever introduced so much randomness, 62 neutral items.. fuck that. Free couriers, free wards.. No. Hopefully 7.24 fixes it.

Can tell you aren't a support player if you don't like free wards and multiple couriers. They are going to save Dota for so many pos 5 and pos 4 players who were treated like ward bitches and couldn't ever get courier for lane regen. This way mid can get a free ward and the support can get more regen for lane, making it more interesting for them without fucking mid.

Plus, what are you even on, the 7.00 patch was easily just as big as this; so was the map changes around the old Roshan location changes, the introduction of shrines, the high ground changes near bounties, etc. This is not the biggest change nor the most significant one in 6 years.

They made dota a less tournament game, its sp heavily rng manipulated and frankly speaking, a bit of luck and you got a huge advantage

Agree this would be really fun in pubs and ranked but it gives yet another factor in tournament that can change the tide of game with some items given some are kind of op. Gotta love that lvl 30 upgrade.

Well to be fair you need to go late game for you to get the op items And if i am not mistaken the more neutrals item you get the lower the percentage (?)

One thing this update does is that during late game, its not safe to just farm in your base when you are defending. You have to take some risks and farm the jungle to get some of those op items
