The monster in this film is not the creature, but the mother.

Saw the trailer for this one only yesterday, so was good to see your review - looks right up my alley, cheers.

Actually spelling is easy because unlike English it's spelled the way it's pronounced 😉 Thanks for the review, couldn't make sense of the dad, I thought he was really strange. Like the points you made about the lighting/setting and the sadness, totally agree.

off topic but 2 questions about british horror: 1. What's your favorite Amicus portmanteau film? 2. What's your favorite Hammer horror film?

Lol - Finnish can appear and sound really difficult, but it's not as bad as you think. As has been mentioned already, pronunciation is actually very simple as Finnish is a fully phonetic language, so you simply say it as you see it or spell it exactly how it sounds. Anyway, it's nice to see Finnish horror getting some love. Finland doesn't have a lot of good horror cinema. However, I would recommend a classic Finnish film from the 1950s which is a bit of a masterpiece: THE WHITE REINDEER (VALKOINEN PEURA).

Just finished watching this. As a Finnish person I had no idea that a movie like this has come out from our country. Most stuff here is just cheap comedy/drama movies, so this was a very nice surprise.

Great review. I loved this movie so much. It definitely was so sad, but so good. The girl was beyond adorable.

I liked it, certainly metaphorical but the horror and gore was good. I predicted the hatching trying to kill the baby but if you pay attention it's pretty easy to predict

Have you seen Behind The Sightings yet? It's on Amazon Prime Video. You might dig it. Do a review if you watch it.
