When I was a kid, I watched too much TV, particularly cartoons, and I believed that quicksand was everywhere, even in Detroit, and that any day, if you weren’t careful, you’d meet a sandy fate. Of course, the mean guys always had stories of death by quicksand to tell. So far, though, quicksand has not been a problem in my life.
