Shack, PLEASE do some coop. You're Sins of a Galactic Empire playthrough with your friends was what introduced me to the channel. Rebellion was an unparalleled success, but its clear that the rise of the modding community stretched the game life far beyond whatever the developers were expecting. Glad they've chosen to effectively redevelop it. By all accounts, they've greatly improved the performance, whilst also enabling higher detail models, more models, and improvements in the simulated universe. I'm definitely picking this up, and cant wait for the mods.

Yes, it is "Real Time" but it's a casually paced one (which is why I love it). And you can pause and give orders. No spazy or clicky skills needed.

This is exactly why I love it too. Especially with the new crippled hull mechanic, it takes a really long time for even lower level cap ships to get wiped out. Really gives you a lot of leeway to change the circumstances.

I walked away from starcraft 2 precisely because it over emphasized the crazed clicking over actual strategy. I got this game Saturday au time and I have to have played more than a dozen games already. It just strikes the balance so well.

Idk about it being casual, I can’t beat the AI on unfair difficulty. Although I’m mainly using the advent and feel like they are the weakest faction. Vasari factions wreck me.

I was NOT planning on watching this entire video, but.. I did. Been a while a game has tickled my pickle to this degree, and this was the first I heard of it. Been a couple of years since I played ANY 4x game, Sins even more so, this made me really wanna get back into it.

You can add ships to a fleet by selecting the ships you want to add then right click the fleet in the top left you want to add them to. Also with all capital ships the big cannon in the front is their planetary bombardment cannon. Edit : Taking out the minor factions does eliminate the markets.

Playtested this game during its development all throughout the year last year and this year up to release. Loved every second of the gameplay when the Vasari Exodus was released. They still remain my favorite faction to play out of all of them, so much so that they're my main go-to. For the Honor of the Empire!

Right around 7:20 Shack, that gun port looking thing is actually the planetary bomb launcher. All the TEC ships have similar ports on the capitals

I've just got this game and my favourite strategy is making my shipyards make ships while idle up to 500 supply and you can make them attack enemy planets or protect allied ones it's really good to use on the attack send them in first and send your fleet to follow so you avoid loses

Having played this all weekend, it does play a bit different from Sins 1. In the old game, when you get a planet the first thing you used to want to do is build your mining stations on asteroids and upgrade civic infrastructure to get your econ going. However in Sins 2 orbital extraction is a tier 2 research item, you can't mine asteroids at the start of the game anymore. In the early game your only option for resources is planet surface mining. So now I find the first thing I do when taking a new planet is upgrade the surface mining and commerce as quickly as possible to support my research up to tier 2. I'm also finding I'm having to make a lot more decisions about what stations to build as the logistics slots are still somewhat limited on most worlds and you need to build more and more research stations to get higher tiers... You'll need 25 of them for tier 5... You can mitigate this a bit by having a research station on a planet slot rather than orbit, but you can only have 1 type on the planet... Like I said, decisions to be made!

The dreadnaught's missle barrage is super powerful. My first game i had 5 of them and as soon as they drop in system they would let loose and wipe the entire system of enemies

I do love that they designed the tec, the faction that most leaned on the market, with a direct way to overcome that loss. Turns the market into a mechanic that can be shut down and give decisions without crippling an entire faction.

TEC tricks --> First: Sell the starting item on your first ship for extra money, you don't want to plan on losing your capitals so the extra cash from selling it is a better use early game. Second: Trade ports give more eco per logistics slot than metal and crystal extractors so it's worth getting those first. Also focusing only trade gives you a more flexible economy and allows you to skip the tech cost of going down the orbital extractors research to make them effective. As TEC you want at least one trade center in every planet/asteroid. Third: Fill up your initial fleet cap and then grab the focused exploration tech to give you four free scouts above the fleet cap. Fourth: If a ship weapon's pierce stat is at or above the durability stat of the target, they will deal full damage to that ship but never more than that. If the pierce is lower than the target's durability then the weapon will do reduced damage. The gauss frigate is the first TEC ship that can pierce capital ship durability and deal full damage to them. Fifth: Grab influence tech as soon as you can because influence is most effective in the early game where individual item purchases can significantly improve your expansion rate and early-game fleet. Sixth: Remember to look at your planet surface slots. They can help you specialize planets for a specific purpose, and some planets have unique structures that help them specialize even further. Whenever you take a planet, it is helpful to plan out what purpose you want that planet to have in furtherance of your larger goals.

Didn't enjoy Sins 2 as it is unfortunately. My expectations may have been a little off, especially with the opening video, but I was sort of expecting some narrative. It's cool for what it is, but I don't think I see much need to revisit it until mods drop and a good discount is available. Just me though, I understand why some fans would be delighted with it.

I struggle to understand what makes this worthy of being called a sequel. Aside from the orbital mechanics thing which to me personally just seem really obnoxious, it just seems like a from scratch remake of the first game and its expansions. The under the hood improvements are cool and all, but that Sins II might get a bunch of awesome mods in the future due to that doesn't make the prospect of buying the game now very enticing. They really should have invested into a campaign experience of some kind.

The engine. That's really all the needed changed. 12 years removed feel the original I am happy to give the devs $40 bucks just for that but it's actually so much more of you spend more than 10 minutes with it. Meanwhile, Madden 25 comes out and is a downgrade from the previous game in every way, charging $60+ for it and sells tens of thousands of copies.
