I'm in the process of stuying Philippines culture and traditions, and must say that Lingganay the one with the bell and Buyugan the one with bees started all these props flipping and using vibrant colors due to their Pintados roots. Needles to say the fast pacing dance routine. Kudos to this performance though.

EXACTLY. When the Lingganay festival and buyogan festival joined sinulog, almost all festivals transition and styles were the same. Specially the props flipping which is being used more often by lingganay festival. And i dont get it when people comment that they won only because of props? lol. Know their Pintados roots firsts before criticizing.😏

That was really grand. They spare no expense in this performance. The props are very festive and on point. Though they play a major role in the routine the dancers themselves have equal presence in the performance. You can really feel the fiesta atmosphere during their performance.

Hi, this is just my on definition of Sinulog based - their ritual dance focus on the old tradition of celebrating the festival which also entails specific costume designs, steps etc. whereas free interpretation, they have their own way of how sinulog is being celebrated. Dance steps are not limited including props. I hope that answers your question. :)
