Sometimes I wish I was born 10 years earlier , I was just starting to enjoy Playing and Watching Cricket in 1974 , The year Gary Sobers retired , All I see now are Highlight reels and Stories that I read about him , He sure was Something.

Born in 70 we grew up listening to legendary exploits of Sir Gary Sobers from my father, an avid cricket fan. Nash used to a quiz qn in General Knowledge quiz competitions in schols in those days. When Viv came some of Sobers aura faded from our minds...

He is and always will be the greatest allrounder of all time..The others just never had the class and skills he had in all aspects of cricket. I have seen all the greats since the 1950s and no one even gets close to him. Its the same with Sir Donald Bradman and his record. They are dreaming if they think anyone is ever going to be close to his record.🥰🥰💯💯👍👍👍 .

I had the privilege of watching him play. He was the greatest player I have ever seen!

As a young 10 year old boy growing up in Barbados, I played cricket with a neighbour slightly older than me, David, who walked like Sobers in intentional imitation of Sobers. I also remember older boys and men saying that it was worth the price of admission to Kensington Oval just to see Sobers walk. In my opinion, the greatest batsman, bowler, spectacular fielder, cricketer IN THE HISTORY OF CRICKET!!! I'm blessed to have seen Sobers in action in a test match at Kensington Oval in Barbados

Sobers the greatest allrounder of all times hands down, and the second best Batter for the Windies after Lara in my opinion.

What a great story. Loved it. G Sobers, simply the Best.

Tremendous batsman, bowler and fielder...only weakness was his captaincy...that would have made him complete...born with an extra finger on each hand that were removed at an early age...imagine how good he would have been with twelve fingers!
@Thorpeman Жыл бұрын
I thought he was a great captain he just didn’t have enough backup in his squad so sometimes he said to himself I will win this on my own and he did.
@nukmunnit3170 Жыл бұрын
@@Thorpeman the problem with Sobers was if he failed other batsmen like Kanhai, Butcher and Nurse thought it was okay to fail too...if Sobers made runs, it took the pressure off them to make runs...do you get my drift? Sobers once declared against England and lost...60s from memory...he didn't unite the 70/71 World team...a superb team i would say...
@Thorpeman Жыл бұрын
@@nukmunnit3170 if sobers was opening the batting I’d agree but he didn’t so I don’t. In the 73 series v England his last big hundred when they got a huge score at lords he was batting well down the order

Sobers was the most talented player i ever saw but I have only been watching cricket since 1970 when he was at the end of his career...a good book is Phil Tressider's 'Captains on a See-saw about the 1968/69 Australian tour if you haven't already read it...peace to you...

even sir don bradman had agreed that he is the greatest cricketer of all time.

A bit before my time of watching cricket. But a delight to see a great left-hander in flowing, full-flight. Only Brian Lara in recent times reached and surpassed him in batting records - minus the six sixes in an over!

Never saw him. But, if Chappell reckons he's the best cricketer, I'm willing to accept it, considering he's played a few more Tests than I have. As a matter of fact, I have not played Test cricket. In fact, I never made it to First Class, either. Ok, if you really must know, I made the second XI as a reserve in Primary. So, I'm guessing Ian's probably a better judge.

By far the best only Jacques kallis is even close.
@lloydsingline34010 күн бұрын
Sure but I think that Ian Botham and Keith Miller were at least as good as Kallis and Mike Proctor was better.Sobers Supreme.
@ranbirgill471810 күн бұрын
Sure but look at kallis batting average and total score as an all rounder much better than all but sobers. Botham no where near any of the greats.

Greatest bowler , murali tharan ie equally good as Wasim AKram if not better. Atleast clearly there is no single greatest undisputed bowler of all time .
@lloydsingline34010 күн бұрын
@SAIPRADEEP070 Akram was the best!! Ask the top Australian batsmen that faced him !! Bill O'Rielly and Shane Warne were better than Murali.Bradman said that O'Reilly was the best and they played against each other in District cricket.Shane Warne had a racehorse named after an epic ball - " The Gatting Ball ".Remember Mike Gatting? English captain.Warnie called him Mr Gatting when they were playing.

It's him and sobers what a disgrace the big 3 is two tier nonsense. West Indies produced the greatest cricketer ever bar Bradman and they are smoked out by the big three. Cricket shot itself in the foot. Many were attracted to the game by the mighty west indies
