A excellent snapshop of the life of Sir James Knott, he was an incredibly generous man and his legacy lives on through the Sir James Knott Trust. As Trust Secretary from 2002-2016, I never ceased to be astrouned by the continuing discovery of the achievements and generosity of Sir James Knott and his family.

Most enjoyable, thank you. Local history is always fascinating, as you are able to relate to people and places you know. How did men like Sir James Knott do so much, accomplish so much, in their lives? Years must have been longer in days of yore.

I'm the current owner of the Italianate Villa that he renamed Wylam lodge in Torquay in 1917, he lived here at various times until leaving in 1924, launching his yacht 'Princess' from Torquay harbour on his way to Mote Carlo.

I may be a very distant relative of this man since I am a Knott also. However, I am located in America and am descended from James Knott of 1617.
