The choice of the song title alone speaks volumes - a TV show whos entire premise is spotlighting a family in rural texas, yet he chose the very intimate subjective interpretation of the romantic interaction of a side-characters one sided romance with another side-character. I am not that exposed to American tv shows, but who exactly is Redcorn?
@sillygostly6 ай бұрын
@@jazzvilakazi3089 : John Redcorn is a recurring character from the animated TV series King of the Hill, which aired from 1997-2010 on FOX in the USA, at the time trailing The Simpsons as the second longest-running animated sitcom of all time. Redcorn was a Native American healer/masseuse who would "treat" Nancy Gribble (inspiring "Niecy" in the music video above), the wife of main character Dale Gribble, who was an extremely eccentric and paranoid man who suspected everything *except* his wife's affair. Nancy and Redcorn also fathered a son, Joseph, whose likeness bears a striking resemblance to Redcorn, and everybody seemed to know that Joseph wasn't really Dale's son with the only oblivious characters being Dale and Joseph. It torments Redcorn that Joseph loves Dale so much and refers to him as "Dad" while being completely indifferent to Redcorn's presence whenever he is around. Much of the storyline in the above music video is specifically based on the Season 4 episode "Nancy Boys", where Nancy finally breaks off her affair and rekindles her relationship with Dale. Neither Dale nor Joseph have ever learned of Nancy's indiscretions. There is a King of the Hill revival currently in the works, but Dale's voice actor Johnny Hardwick passed away in August 2023. It's a fantastic show and I couldn't recommend it enough.
@devinthedu-ohwait5876 ай бұрын
@@jazzvilakazi3089 john redcorn is the decendant of a tribe of native americans supposedly indigenous to the area who lives there eeking out an existence similar to as you see in the video, entertaining the locals and fighting for his land back while having an affair(or whoring around if we being honest) with a friend of a friend's unsatisfied wife who he is deeply in love with.

This was a genius idea, from the animation to make it look like king of the hill to choosing to make the song about John red corn a character that could never be with the woman he loves. Good shit SIR
@revengefulgh0st4 жыл бұрын
He didn't make the song about John Redcorn. He made the song about a man who loves another man's woman who is wrestling with his love for her and the love for himself. He named it John Redcorn and animated that way because that's the man who embodies that concept.

[Chorus] I'm alone, every night alone Why am I alone when I know that you want me too? Am I wrong? Tell me that I'm wrong Tell me I deserve all the pain that you put me through, oh [Post-Chorus] You don't ever bring me good news, babe I just wanna be the one you choose, babe [Verse 2] Dream girl got me losin' sleep Baby, you remind me of my Jeep Maybe I'd be better on the run Double vision playin' all week This feels like a game of survival Why am I dyin' for a title? Is it even worth the fight? [Chorus] When I just end up alone, every night alone Why am I alone when I know that you want me too? Am I wrong? "This feels like a game of survival, why am I dying for a title? Is it even worth the fight?" Idk how many times I've skipped back to that part and sang it with all my soul.Even though I can't sing when I'm in my car alone, with my tears rolling & belting it out with every fiber of my being it makes me feel like somehow I'm heard. This song is so underrated. I've shown this song to every friend and family member I have because it hits different. Even if you don't have an exact "John Redcorn" situation, I feel a lot of us have encountered an unrequited love situation and it's relatable on so many levels. Loving someone and knowing you can't have them like you want, or it's bad timing, or maybe it's just toxic... it's one of the worst feelings ever. I've gone through this and felt like my life would be incomplete without him in it because that's how deep the connection was...but with time it has gotten easier. I do torture myself from time to time listening to this because it brings back savored memories with said person...Sometimes I wonder if he thinks about me like I think about him. Love--we all want it even if we know if isn't good for us, we hope that somehow it might work itself out in our favor...but this type of love never will. You're doomed from the beginning.
