Sir Keir Starmer says he would halt Rwanda flights immediately under Labour government

No deportation flights to Rwanda will take off under a Labour government, Sir Keir Starmer has told Sky News.
The Labour leader told Sky News' political editor Beth Rigby "there'll be no flights" as he wants to "scrap the scheme", which aims to send asylum seekers entering the UK illegally from a safe country, such as France, to Rwanda.

As opposed to what? The status quo that is £11,000 per ticket to Rwanda per person + £20,000 to Rwanda's govt per person on the plane + another £120 Million! after 300 people have arrived. For what? Fun fact the people we would’ve sent there would be issued a Rwandan passport. One of the conditions of the scheme is that we can’t deport anyone with a Rwandan passport. Given the amount we would be paying they could easily put them on a flight back after they get their passport and pocket the difference.

Rwandan homes that were previously earmarked to house migrants deported from the UK have already been sold to local buyers. the developer has said. Some 70% of the 163 affordable homes on the Bwiza Riverside estate have been sold, the developer ADHI-Rwanda said. On top of the £220 million Britain has already paid Rwanda, the UK government has agreed to pay an extra £150 million over the next three years, and £120 million pounds once the first 300 asylum seekers have been resettled, the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Friday 1st March 2024.
