Ok, let's settle this captain debate, coming from a Liverpool fan. It's basically two different statements. Jordan Henderson was the more SUCCESSFUL captain, being in the team that won the coveted Premier League, but the BEST and most INFLUENCIAL and SKILLFUL captain there's only one Stevie G. There is no way on God's green Earth that we would have won the Champions League and the FA Cup (a.k.a The Gerrard Final) without him. #micdrop

I think that's a very fair assessment. There's nothing that Jordan could do that Stevie couldn't, but there were things that Stevie could do that Jordan couldn't. That said, it really cannot be understated how impressive it is that Jordan took over from Stevie and thrived in the role.

@@alexjames9561 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes people are just wrong. Are there more skillful and technical players than Henderson? Sure. But he put in the hard yards that let our stars shine; his team-mates understood the value he added. And as for costing us the title - as Klopp would tell you, pinning individual results on any single player is a sure sign of someone who doesn't understand football. But if we're going to play your game, I'd argue that we'd have won the title in 2014 if Jordan hadn't been suspended after the City match. If he'd been on the pitch we'd have had no Stevie slip against Chelsea (Stevie wouldn't have been the last man back), and he had the grit and determination that side otherwise (Stevie and Luis apart) largely lacked so I think there's a good chance we don't have the collapse against Palace, either. Football is ultimately all about goals, but you don't get goals without players further back putting in the work, and Henderson always put in the work.
