Sir Nigel GRESLEY driver Gordon Hodgson classic car Saab owner for 50yrs amazing interview & history

We went to the Masters of Motoring event at Leighton Hall and we met who not only had owned the same car since 1070 he had driven Sir Nigel GRESLEY 😱😍

That's such an unusual colour. My first car was a T reg SAAB 9-3 built like a tank. I miss SAABs not many seen on the road, these days.

Our family owned a 1965 Saab when I was a teenager living in Florida. It was a two-stroke 3 cylinder engine and you had to add oil to the gas with each fill up! Thanks, Matilda, for showing us this neat automobile and the delightful interview with its owner.

What a lovely interesting man you ran into here. To own a car from new and he's done over £350k miles in it, and it's only broken down once because he ran out of fuel is amazing. I guess your eyes lite up when he showed you the steam train you've been yearning to see is one he actually used to drive. I'm betting that this man's house is full of all the original fixtures 'n' fittings and some really great memorabilia. You could just sense how much his photo album meant to him and for me that was a such a nice moment. Well you keep finding these lovely character Matilda and i look forward to the next! 🥰

I feel sort of sad watching this, when this guy bought that car I was about 5 and he would have been about 32 and now we are both old men … don’t waste your young life Matilda and keep on doing what makes you feel alive xx❤

My father bought a used 1969 Saab 96 V4 in the early 70s. The engine compartment is what I remembered most. He bought it for dirt cheap because it had a fire in the engine compartment and needed much of the wiring replaced. The engine area looked exactly like this 1970 model. A far as the interior goes, I don't remember gages mounted to the glove box door, so maybe this was some sort of deluxe or sport version??

They surely don't make them like they used to, That SAAB is immaculate for its age, and to think it stands outside all the time, the paintwork on most modern cars is shot after about 20 years 🤣 What a bonus to stumble upon someone who not only saw, but drove the Sir Nigel Gresley, AMAZING 🥰

What a wonderful video. Over 300 thousand miles and in such brilliant condition with such a great travelling history and it's kept outside! This man has so much enthusiasm for the car but also rose through the railway ranks to drive the record setting LNER steam locomotive classes A3 (Flying Scotsman) and A4 (Sir Nigel Gresley, a sister locomotive of the famous record breaking Mallard). I wish that I was around at hat time to experience it. It's nice to see he still uses an old film camera as well, If I had to guess I think it would likely be a Pentax K1000 (K bayonet lens mount) or a Pentax Spotmatic (M42 mm screw lens mount) going by the case profile. Apologies I've gone off topic. I really enjoyed the video as I'm a fan of how things used to be from steam engines, old cars, old film cameras and mechanical watches from the days gone by. Thanks again.

did it have the free wheel device on it you pulled a little rod in the middle of the foot wells i had a 95 which was the estate version but when we moved into a farm there was a two stroke one in the garage my dad sent it to the scrap yard was gutted
