Could someone please explain to me why Brandy is singing this song? LeAndria Johnson is the one who has been singing this since 2017, at least, if I’m not mistaken. She even made an album. And to date the vocals are unmatched. Brandy is good, but LeAndria moves mountains, continents and seas with her voice.

Whitney had to encourage her to sing higher, because she CAN.) So if Whitney knew she could do it, that’s pretty much the goal seal of approval to move forward. We get that Brandy has a low register, but she needs to explore her top range more. But for me, it’s hard to un-hear LeAndria’a version; she sort of blows everything out of the water vocally.

You don't understand what you are hearing. It is ok. Brandy is a vocal genius. This is why many study her and attempt to duplicate what she does but it is damn near impossible to do. She switches her approach to singing every song, she switches her tone, sings pitch perfect and precise. Her melisma is never jumbled and never over done.

She executes scales with precision when she "runs" and places them where they need to be. She changes her tone and stylizes her approach to singing based on the music and song. She shapes and manipulates vowels. I could go on and on about what she is doing when she sings. All of this is what is meant by technical. She is not simply just belting out lyrics with emotion like most are used to hearing.
