As a Leeds Utd supporter, I was privileged to have seen Tom Finney play at Elland Road, but, at the time, he was already, at the end of his career, but, just like Sir Stanly Matthws, he knew a few tricks that baffled Don Revies fledgling Leeds Utd back line

I was outside the church today to pay my respects to this great man.The service was relayed to us outside the church which was incredible. It was a trip back in time to the great days of football and a view of real humanity in a person. Some people behind me had no respect during the speeches, deciding to laugh and joke, talk loudly etc, no respect..sign of the times I suppose. I only met Sir Tom once about 35 years ago, in a café in St Annes. He was having something to eat with his wife Elsie, he was a really nice guy. Rest in peace Sir Tom! Preston will never forget.

I met Sir Tom Finney once. He was so humble and kind. I may have been 6 at the time but i still understood what a true great footballer he was. A long with that he was a true gentleman!
