My car used to fire right up when I hit the key when it was cold outside hot outside it didn't matter well when I did the upper intake delete and deleted the cold start it still started up perfect in the summer time but in the winter it was a little cold natured well now I've noticed over the past month or two it seems like it's a little extra cold-natured like it's a little longer to start and then like you said it it doesn't run very decent when it first starts it doesn't want to let me give it much gas but after it warms up is gone and I really used to think I had a miscarriage a slight little misfire but I began to think that's just have those cars ran because my 87 did the same thing but I thought it ran good but it had like a slight stutter is what I called it not quite even a misfire more like a slight stutter now that I just listened to this video while I was working I had to rewind it and watch it again and pay attention and I think this might be my issue right now because it runs good once it warms up but it just takes a little longer to start than it used to I almost want to make a video of a cold start when I get home and send to you just to see what you think I'm almost embarrassed to put it on my KZbin channel for the cold start LOL

The symptoms you describe sound like the CHTS. Have you checked for any diagnostic trouble codes?

It's been awhile since I messed with Those sensors but is the chts the one on the driver side with the yellow wire coming out or is it the one on the passenger side the one on the driver side is not even hooked up anymore no my bad the chts is the one right behind the timing cover you can barely get to can you relocate it

@@MyZ31300ZX yeah I'm going to relocate that today I'm going to get the Pathfinder c h t s and put it in my intake on the driver side I have actually had that sensor pulled out before in the intake when I was trying to hook up a temp sensor aftermarket gauge but I wound up doing it differently so the sensor in the top of the intake the wire is cut and I haven't been using it in about 6 months but I'm going to relocate it with the Pathfinder one in that location today if I can find a new sub harness but I was wondering when I do this relocation can I cut that factory wire so I can pull it out from the timing cover and get it out of the way by the way have u seen my z31

i haave a 86 non turbo it will start and run for just a sec or to and then die it has new fuel pump and pressure. also pulled injectors cleaned and tested and rebuilt them also has fuel injector pulse, also has spark. i can spray starting fluid in it and it will somewhat run also replaced distributor cap and rotor button seems like something is shuting the fuel off but it keeps pressure hope you can help thing is about to piss me off lmao . well it already has .

I've got a 1991 Nissan d21 V6 and this is the exact same set up. It's throwing code 11 (which is this sensor or that's what I get out of it) so I changed the sponsor just like you did in the video but it still won't crank. I've changed the distributor cap, rotor, and ignition coil also. I'm stuck and don't know what do do next if anyone has info or could help please give me some pointers. Thanks!

@@MyZ31300ZX I tested it. I have power all the way to the distributor. The distributor rotor is not spinning when I turn it over could that mean the whole distributor unit need to be changed or the timing belt is broke off or worn?

billybobby769 If the cas is failing yes. Check the DTC first. I've also seen a key switch get hot and do the same thing as you describe.

I have no spark on my 88 200sx se. Is this likely my problem. The distributor cap was left loose while the car sat for 2 years so there was tons of moisture and corrosion!

I've got some questions, I have an 86 300z and it'll start and run but when try to "floor" it it'll bog and also does it when going up a hill. I've changed water pump, timing belt, thermostat, temperature sensor. Rotor, plugs, wires and cap are fairly new.Trying to get it running good. Any help will be much appreciated

James R the dash will not show any DTCs. Need to access the ecu to get the diagnostic Trouble Codes. XenonZcar.com in the Z31 section has full documentation on how to check the codes. Also has resources such as service manuals and owners manuals. Loads of helpful info there that may help you.

cant get it too die therefore no codes thks. don't want too drive until proplem fixed.idle's all day. only when I drive it. I remember having radio on while cleaning. after cleaning was completed I went too coffee shop and it died in parking lot. waited 2 hrs then it started and I drove home. 126 thousand miles on her.

Mine doesn't want to start I have changed the key ignition switch the distributor and crank sensor the ignition coil ignition coil resistor the fusible links then fuel pump The fuel pump relay When I open the key switch it primes and it cranks but no spark no injection and no fuel pressure any advice ?

XSDGX check for breaks in the harness. Also verify ecu functionality.

I already checked the ecu and the harness haven't found any breaks but I do know my dad sent the ecu to check and they said it was fine , but since we are adding a turbo to it , my dad asked to get the base tune of the turbo into our ecu could that be a problem making it not to start the ecu has a nistune in it

XSDGX I run a Nistune Ecu. It didn't stop mine from starting. At least with the proper z31 tune. Ecu needs to see cas in order to trigger injectors and coil. Somethings not right if you have no injector pulse or spark. Usually faulty cas will cause this. Or a break in the harness. Test all the way back to the ecu and make sure everything is within specs. What if any DTC does Nistune show?

XSDGX plug the USB from the Nistune ecu into laptop. Turn key to on. Run Nistune software. Consult ecu through software. Click on F6 or Display consult gauges. In consult view lower right side says ecu messages. Any DTC will be listed there. If you need help let me know and I'll make a video for you on how.

My 1985 z31 non turbo idles fine and runs well above 3k rpm but when 1st accelerating runs rough in lower rpms which causes car to lunge as it accelerates then smooths out and all is fine when you get above about 3k rpms. Any suggestions?
