Sweet update! Always fun having kids running around. They are the true test of the layout. Man glad that was an easy fix. All that stuff to solder missing one thing is not bad at all. Your pops the man!!!!

I was right there with you while you were talking about 2 year olds and train races but shortly after that it changed to some language that I do not understand! :-) Thank you and take care... Paul.

" .,.. I forgot to solder it". Mr. Bennett, I admire your honesty, and applaud your sense of humor. I subscribed after watching the first few videos. Although my own layout will likely not be worth the effort of making such detailed videos as you have (it is a rather small layout). It is with great interest that I follow your work here. I am looking forward to see how the landscaping will work for you. Best wishes from Dresden, Germany. Jens

Hey Rob, been going back and watching some of your older vids. Had a good chuckle over the missed solder on the IC because... Just yesterday I finished building a 555 circuit based on your smokestack led video and initially it didn't work. I was using a strip board and after poking around for a while I discovered I failed to install not one but two jumpers to connect opposite strips on the board. Oops. With the missing legs to the circuits installed it works perfectly. So thanks for the continued inspiration for me to try new things and for the human reality check! Scott

With VB6 I did my own dispatcher graphics since I wanted more programming features and flexibility. Signal aspects needed troubleshooting due to some of the interlocking complexities I have. VB6 allowed me to troubleshoot signal aspects, train following, and NX plant operation right on the screen without the railroad hooked up.

Two observations on this video - first, don't feel too bad about missing the soldering on the socket. Before I got into software development, I spent a bunch of years doing electronic assembly professionally . I can ( and do) tell stories for hours about stupid assembler tricks with respect to assembling circuit boards. Missed solder joints is only the tip of the iceberg. Devices installed backwards, solder Bridges , missing parts, installing parts in the wrong holes, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseam. That's what the quality control department is for :-) . The second thing is about the remove after washing label. That is for assembly shops that use automated wavesolder and board washing machines in their process. I worked for a small shop that actually put their boards in a modified dishwasher after they came off the wavesolder machine. The label/sticker covers the hole where the sound comes out of the buzzer , so that the internals don't get damaged by the water . Other devices that are water sensitive will have similar stickers. They get peeled off after the boards have been washed to remove excess flux.

Looking good! If your looking into using JMRI and can get it to work with an old computer, I would look into CATS. Its a great CTC intercase for modern dispatcher panels. Im uploading some videos on it now to may channel. Anyways, nice work on the electronics... very impressive.

Thank you- I have been watching several of your signalling and other videos- very helpful. Will watch the new ones for sure. Your layout is very impressive- going through this ordeal I can appreciate all the effort it takes. Well done.
