In these stressful times, I'm so thankful for channels like this. I subscribed to your channel last year. I absolutely love the creativity you put into your photography. These stormtroopers bring me way back to when I first saw STAR WARS in 1977. It hit the Big Screen just five days after my seventh birthday. When I was a kid, I used to put my Han Solo in a metal cup of water at least a couple times a month, so I could carefully thaw it just enough around the edges to slide out onto a towel. It was my way of encasing Han in carbonite. In retrospect, I wish I had photos of all my action figure battles. For a month, I had my Indiana Jones climbing the wall just outside my second story, bedroom window. I wish I'd thought to take photos back then. I had a blast setting up so many massive Army men battles outside, or on rainy days, my brothers and I set up our platoons inside. We'd make their bases out of dominoes, or even tons of collected popsicle sticks. We used rubber bands inside for ammunition, as well. My Tinker Toys were great for building bases, as well. They even made great ammunition, too. When we were outside, we would use pinecones. Just setting them all up for battle was so much fun. 🙂

I've tried the digirama when I first started toy photography and yeah, it can be really hard getting the shot right without all the glare and reflections from the screen. it's something I plan on messing around with, especially since it's now so cold out here in MI. I've been wanting to do a series with a couple of bored stormtroopers telling bad jokes and I was gonna either do this as a digirama or have the background printed up at like office max.

It’s definitely a tough on to pull off! But practicing and trial/error really helps! Sounds like a cool idea dude! I’m sure you’ll pull it off!

As I am almost only shooting indoors, this was very interesting for me (I am old enough to be Jared's dad - saw Star Wars when it came out - so running around shooting toys outside would somewhat alert the neighbours...). Darn Jared, you pretty much inspired my new hobby last year! It really helped me through cabin fever during lockdown! Thank you for your work!

I mainly shoot indoors and lately have been doing the digirama (think that's how you spell it) thing. It can be a life saver for backgrounds but one thing I've learned is not to put your figures too close to the screen. I find a good 6 to 7 inches away works out well. Great video! 👍
@sirdork7302 жыл бұрын
That is a great point! If you’re too close, it’s easy to pick up the flatness of the screen! Thanks so much dude!
