11:30 on the last Friday morning of every month. You could set your clocks by this in Amarillo. I miss watching my dogs' howllalujiah chorus to these things. We can hardly hear the sirens where I live now. We have fewer tornadoes here, but they happen. I would feel better knowing a siren could clue me in somewhere since the local forecasts are a joke. It's a good thing I learned to storm spot while I lived in tornado alley.

Cyclones are still the best siren ever made by far. They sound totally different from a distance, too. Up close you could really hear the two tones. From a distance they are mixed together and kind of sound like a "metal trashcan". That's the first object that comes to mind when I hear one from a distance. At the end when it said the callsign and who they were, it said 21:00 hours. That's 9PM at night!

I just recently took a trip through Amarillo and went siren spotting. Your street locations helped a lot. I saw cyclones 2001s the thunderbolt at I-27 and Georgia. And plenty of sd-10s. I then took a side road to originally see some of the windmills but then saw the pantex plant and a bunch of sirens in that area. I saw modulators and EOWS*612s in the pantex plant.

Hey Jae! It does sound single tone. Look at our video of the downtown T-bolt on the ground. This is that siren. At 20 sec. it says 1000 on the label, but at 55 sec. the top of the chopper head says 1000T. They may have changed heads or whatever, but I agree it sounds like a old 1000. It has since been sent to another city (who knows where) that was in need of a siren. We just based it off of the chopper embossing. Thanks!!!
