For your information Blitz, the Temple Guard was a branch of the Sentinel class in The Jedi Order. The Guardians were like the knights, masters, Padawans, and so on. There is also the Consular, which were the Jedi on the Jedi High Council, dedicated to unlocking more of the force. However, the Sentinels were tasked with locating the Sith and if possible, eliminating them. Although, one class of Sentinel were the Temple Guards, protecting the Jedi Temple of Coruscant, reporting to Head of Security Jedi Master Cin Drallig. The Temple Guards were some of the most skilled Jedi in existence, but were only active in the Clone Wars Era, and the Sentinels in general were only alive in the time of the Old Republic and Old Sith Empire. To put it simply, Temple Guards were very skilled Jedi protecting the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the Clone Wars
