I wish they made a portable traffic arrow with just a cigar plug on it, and the basic patterns. Left, right, center out. Galls sold something of that nature back in the late 80's, early 90's. It'd be nice just to have in the trunk in case of a breakdown or accident.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these, but I have just one question. If I want to utilize the warning function as well as the traffic arrow function, do I just connect the yellow wire to the positive (red) wire when I hook this all up and then it's all set to go?? If it's that easy, I'm sold!!

interesting, I like the light head but the box seems bulky and a bit old fashioned. also the patterns seemed to copy with little difference.

It seemed antiquated & bulky compared the to other companies, additionally it only had a single color. LAPD slick top is the only agency that uses only amber on drivers side rear. I retired with 23 years in border patrol, and did temporary assignment in different states, one was California. I remember their marked slick tops had WigWag head lamps, steady burning red, and only amber or amber and blue drivers side rear deck, colleagues of mine said it's traditional from "OLD School LAPD" , like San Francisco PD had the low-end whip antennas on drivers side. Additionally it's a question of line item budgets, and agency can have more money to spend on patrol cars verses spending thousands on redundant lights, back when I started in 1983, I worked for the state ,then I was hired by USBP, in 1986 I remember that the slick top patrol cars had a flasher for the head lamps, before the WigWag switch was founded, and a post spotlight Unity, one side was red, and the other side white both halogen, as well as the siren with the speaker placed on the grill guard. At the time the federal government had a contract with Texas Department of Corrections, to make the grill guards for our sedans, and suburbans, thus because most of our vehicles were slick top, the speakers were placed behind the grill guard. Most of the border patrol vehicles had brushguards, thus would keep the vehicle running even if there was livestock, deer, or debris while on patrol, additionally you were able to pit a car, before it was publicized in California around the 90's. Additionally, if one of your agencies units was on the road, due to break down, you could push it out of the way utilizing the cars brushguard. Again, all these warning lights are great, if you have an unlimited budget, however, if you do the math, how many other vehicles are you able to have as a deterrent with minimal warning equipment verses buying millions of dollars when you have over 50000 border patrol each with a vehicle. That's why it's critical when you have LED'S that have up to 3 colors, one being white for traffic stops. I'm obviously retired now, and back with the state of Texas, but the evolution of warning lights I've seen through almost 34 years has been, incredible. There's a COPS video where the siren is broken, and the detective had to make a siren sound over the PA, obviously it was in the eighties or early nineties, but one time our grill lights didn't work and my partner used a red mechanics rag over his Mag light, our siren did work, but we were in an unmarked border patrol car, and ended busting a phenomenal load of narcotics, but the point is ,police work ,back in the day was highly improvised, particularly investigative work w/o cameras. Nowadays officers will send a patrol, or detective car to be repaired if only 1 small light from the vast amount of lights all over the car. Imagine that before data mobile unit/laptop all you had was a radio, no portable, only a spotlight on the post, a siren , and no rear emergency lighting only the factory hazard lights. We had to use a orange cone on the Mag light, and road flares for traffic accidents, we also had florescent road cones in the trunk. Things were that "old school", no I phone to take your time while on duty, only newspapers & crossword puzzles.

Slimjimtheman98 oh I know that but it's like right after he lights it up that there's 1 pod on each side that doesn't light up with the rest of the pod.

at the 5:16 mark you can see it on the display. I'm thinking now it might just be how the company set up the flash pattern with the 2 ends flashing then the 2 Center flashing and having the 2 in boards as you will not flash.
