No - Unfortunately I was never able to get the midi sorted out between the Rane 12MK2 and SSL to take advantage of the additional controls.

It seems to work just great for me. I've been using both HID and DVS modes, I prefer DVS but no issues with pitch with or without Pitch N Time enabled. Does the problem stop if you turn off keylock or PnT?

Can you use two Rane Twelve MKII`s and mid switching with decks? Like Deck one to three/two to four. Or i need FOUR Rane Twelve MKII FOR 4 deck usage? I just want to add them to Pioneer DJ DJM-750MK2 for serato or other mixer alternative for serato. What should i do to have a 4 deck (2 virtual setup) in serato while using those controllers? Can you recomend a mixer for those if Nexus is not a viable option. Thx for help!

You can do four deck mixing with one or two rane 12's - you can easily switch decks - just press the deck button - accordingly on the rane 12 to control it. I suspect you'll want to be in HID/INT mode vs using control tone though but not 100% certain as I've never tried that specifically on the MK2's but the original rane 12's and a DJM900NXS2 worked great four channel in INT mode.

It's the most recent version of SSL - download Serato ScratchLive from the source here: serato.com/scratchlive/downloads

Would this work with a traktor Z2 with an SL1 Box or would I need an SL2?

Use whatever interface sl1 sl2 or z2 that you have and works with your computer. The analog signal over rca from the Rane 12mk2’s emulates control vinyl. You’ll be good to go. There is no need to connect usb cable from Rane 12mk2 in this example.

Hi i know i'm late how did you connect these turntables /controllers up did you use line in or phono cause i'm not getting any tone noise map when trying to connect to traktor pro if i use Serato i can just connect via usb but for traktor the red and white plugs just are not getting anything so i wanted to make sure i'm connected correctly i was thinking it was line in but please advise cause if not then i'm totally lost LOL!!

Have to use Line in with the rane 12mk2. There is also a traktor dvs option in the settings - use the buttons on the Rane12 upper left area next to the screen to pick traktor dvs. As for USB and traktor midi - I am out of my wheelhouse. At the very least if you get tone you're probably 90% good to go. Good luck!

@@sirforce thanks I’ll try that 1st with serato then switch over to Traktor if that doesn’t work then I’ll start to cry .......real tears LOL! I’m just an really big traktor guy and being afforded the option to use traktor based on what Rane says had me so happy but now because native instruments doesn’t officially support Rane has me down also if I didn’t indicate I’m using the pioneer DJM S-11 mixer so I upgraded fully thinking I could use both platforms to really be able to mix until my hearts content. I use Traktor for mixing Housemusic and serato for turntablism and scratching. Hey thanks for any and all input and for me I hope native instruments steps up and supports this controller so that I can still use traktor just messing with it last night it was so great to be able to mess with it again it’s a great software rally solid, serato is decent but you have to do a lot of things to get everything in order whereas traktor it’s pretty easy to use .....well for me because I’m familiar but def better sounding efx and the option to not have to beat grid every song, things stay locked in place which serato you have to beat grid every song and I’ve got so much music I just can’t go there it won’t take years to beat grid all the music. This was just a way to really test the control tone against the old laptop/mixer, SSL was so tight, very low latency, just fun. Just jamming out on the old gear. it still works great but I sold all my Rane gear and moved on to S11 SDJ Pro which is a great successor to the SSL of days gone by.

You’re gonna need an SL box that works with scratchlive and a Rane 12mk2 with rca and use the dvs signal… no usb for the Rane 12 needed. This will not work with M chip macs. Need older Mac that can run SSL. Scratchlive days are really limited at this point. You might consider going to serato dj pro. It’s pretty good for a while now.

Yes, using the analog RCA connections and DVS mode - this will work- this is a true analog representation of the serato control tone. The 57SL will not know it's a Rane TwelveMk2 vs a serato control tone record. The USB cables will not be of any use on the Rane TwelveMk2 when used with the 57sl and ScratchLive- you need only connect the RCA's from each 12mk2 turntable to the 57SL. Set DVS Serato mode on the 12mk2 and scratchlive will be completely happy. Post a video if you give it a go!

In this example - yeah, just connect power and RCA's set the DVS mode and go, scratchlive works exactly as one would expect it to. Simple and easy, I think a lot of DJ's will love this.

The Rane Twelve MKII RCA's output a line level DVS signal - so choose line/CD on your mixer. Fun tip - Rane 72 new firmware allows the channels to use the AUX for DVS signal allowing for an analog turntable to be connected simultaneously.

@@djloshouston It's been pretty nice, i can't say I really have any audio drop issues but I would think that would be something upstream in the software or playback side of things. Have you experienced audio drop outs? The 12mk2 feel to me like they offer tighter control and have a clean control signal without any bass influence picked up by tonearm. That's a big win from my perspective.

Not me using SSL out for gigs but I have seen a lot of touring DJ's pre COVID using SS w/ SL4 interfaces. I decided to try out my 2008 MacBook Pro running SSL w/ Rane Twelve MKII and it's great. Pretty amazing how well SSL worked and a testament to the compatibility of the Rane DVS control tone. I saw a video also showing the 12's running DVS tone and there was no drift after five minutes which is also nice.

Shit scratch live still works great it’s a old reliable I use scratch live & serato Dj have them both on my 2011 MacBook pros with my Rane 62 running Yosemite OS everything works like a charm
