I've falling in love with Sirius DS design since I saw Torsten's presentations on different video's on youtube (and I've seen them all). This one, takes it to another level where one can really picture how it would be sailing around the world on that wonderful cruising boat. When I was a kid (around 8 to 14) I used to go sailing with my father every other weekend or so. Now that I'm 47 years old, and watching this amazing boat, I dream on sailing again. Maybe one day! Congratulations to Torsten and all the Sirius team.

Not only is this boat full of great design ideas, build to high standards and ergonomics, but I am really completely blown away with the accommodation, that you get out of this and also the bigger 40DS. I mean, I have seen 50 foot monohuls, which in all truth offer less accommodation, than even the 35DS do. Especially coffin like, compromised cabins are often a thing in many production boats, no names mentioned.

Marie - I really enjoyed your video review of the 35 DS at the boat show and so glad to see you giving additional thoughts on the Sirius yachts! It is great hearing some of your actual cruising experiences and how a Sirius would handle the various aspects of cruising based on your real life experience. Just like the detailed thought Torsten puts into every inch of his boats, you see it again here in the latest videos helping prospective buyers like myself really understand aspects of these wonderful yacths. Even though you can get a much more realistic understanding of Sirius yachts from the videos in this channel than you can with most other yacht videos, I still wanted to see these in person for myself so flew from San Francisco to Germany (as part of a summer vacation) to visit Sirius yachts, see the manufacturing process and experience the boats in person including a test sail. After being enamored with Torsten's videos and his yachts, the in person experience did not disappoint. I first came across Sirius when looking for a boat where my wife and two younger daughters would be less prone to getting sea sick if the weather was a little rough as well as a place they could be warm when it was cooler out. When Torsten took us for a test sail on the Baltic, it was a bit blustery and chilly so my wife went into the deck salon, laid down next to the table and took a nap. She was cozy, warm, and didn't feel the slightest bit sea sick. We found a winner! After looking at countless boats and hearing stories of challenges with quality on production boats (or experiencing ourselves when chartering), I was blown away at the lengths Torsten and team put into truly building these boats to last so much longer than production boats. Whether it is the thickness of the wood (all cut from the same tree with grain perfectly aligned between doors/cupboards, etc), the weight of just the rudder post itself, the huge beefiness and reinforcement put into the stiffness/thickness of the hull, the many ingenious and extremely usable features throughout the boat or back again to the fact you can have a spacious cockpit and/or be inside with true 360 visibility (instead of so many DS boats out there where as soon as you sit down, you can't see out the windows above you or most you can't see forward), it just never ceases to amaze at a place you'd want to be at anchor, at the dock or on passage. Thanks again for your passion for your craft and building such a phenomenal product. We can't wait to have ours!

Great review! Just wondering if you are working with a dealer to deliver the boat to the US and have it commissioned here, or take delivery overseas? I'd love to have one of these fine yachts here in Hawaii eventually, maybe after cruising the Pacific Northwest for a season.
@paulcifka44264 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I've been looking at options to sail it over several years in different trips to get back to the west coast while putting in charter in desirable locations (Baltic, med, BVI) when I'm not using it and doing multiple trips to explore those areas. Having it shipped over is another faster option. There is a 40ds owner in Vancouver bc who sailed it home and he said it was a wonderful experience including stopping in Hawaii on the way back. I did a trip up in BC along the sunshine coast area and this boat would be fantastic for up there. I'd love to make my way up to Alaska along the inside passage, this boat enables travel to so many places in comfort!

But hey, if it makes one feel well...
@GermanGreetings3 жыл бұрын
@@fabienh3943 But don`t forget, Sir: You get a wonderful boat, far more than those many `avaliable`, maybe less expensive disappointments in later practical life on board. I was at sea with a very small boat... that never disappointed me. And I can read the difference between a `salesman` and an enthusiastic, experianced shipbuilder. If I had those euros... sorry for this `commercial`...: I would not `get my euros out` to anyone... but I would investigate in this Sirius-Way-of-Life, minding facts: Imgaine bored children and a cold-wet wife in a dark kitchen `underground`, ...all finally leaving you alone with your love to sailing in northern hemispheres. So it`s indeed very nice, what this wise man has to say on board that little ship... as he creates integrative facts into ships. And please mind this, Fabien: I am talking `from board` a Hobie 14, ok ? Because I am not jealous at all, to see other peoples life, including their dreams and wifes and children + dog, being fulfilled on that special Sirius-Level. I am not an advocat for their lifestyle - I just like to see people doing something, they are convinced about. On both sides of any contract, to create a good ship... and then of course I would buy it.

Thats truly a new standard in yachting. Thats an honest company, typical bespoke German where every square inch is methodically thought out. I would have the biquille bilge keel tri rudder for northern Europe Ireland Scotland France where the range in tide is large and the ability to dry out is paramount for both cost and safety. Any irishman would tell you that the best place to ride out a north atlantic gale is on a bar stool with your boat outside in the carpark. The bilge keel sitting on a triangulation just about achieves this. Well done.

A truly wonderful boat, and - as ever - the presentations from Sirius Werft and Torsten is next to none! The Best I've seen. And Believe me; I've been around searching for the "perfect" full-time liveaboard and ocean capable boat (I know; there is not such a thing as the 'perfect' boat, but... Well, I believe You know what I mean 😊) And, having seen a lot, when it comes to the concept it represents, my dreamboat is still the 35DS, so I Can fully sympathize with the charming Marie! As indicated; my future plans goes in the direction of fulltime liveaboard up here in the Baltic area. As far as I Can see, the 35DS has no hull or deck insulation, but is that offered as an option ? Best regards from Denmark 😊 Christian
@SiriusYachts4 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, thanks for the many compliments! You made me red on my cheeks ;-)
@SiriusYachts4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a lot of insulation in the very core of her build, she is indeed especially constructed for this. Building sailing yachts here in the North of Germany since 50 years now with lots of customers cruising Sweden, Norway and the UK - often living on board all year long this is our special expertise. Deck saloon windows are double glassed. She has a very sound insulation through the whole boat (up to 80mm in the roof alone, and including 30mm Divinycell foam in deck and hull) which is that good, that there is no condensation water at all inside. For customers which like to push boundaries with temperatures below freezing, we do add some extra insulation to the already existing one in front and aft cabin. I was living on this yacht through January and February in Seattle and Vancouver and it was very toasty ;-). We do have customers living on board in areas of thick ice on the water. Good thing is: what is good against cold works against heat as well ;-)

Wonderful! I’ll be looking for Marie’s channel, and also I live the twin keel design. Where we live on the Hudson River in New York, the tide shift is dramatic, and shoaling is a major issue. Our boat draws only 1 meter, and there have been times where we have touched a sandbar in a channel that was supposed to be 10 meters! 😳 We like to anchor in close to the islands to swim and picnic, and being able to dry out the hull for maintenance would be fantastic.

So glad I didn't go to Lake Union for the boat show and just stayed at the indoor areas. Looks like I saved a lot of money! This boat makes a lot of sense for a cruising couple here in the PNW and cruising the Inside Passage. Fantastic layout. We may take a hard look at this boat in the next two years when we are ready to buy again.

The reception in Seattle was outstanding and I very hard to believe that about 50% of the many visitors did already know about our boats from KZbin! I am sorry you missed us! The trip up north was stunning in many ways as well and we had it all - from fog and pouring rain, lots of floating logs and minefields of crab pods, 7kn of pushing currents though Deception Sound, drying her out, squalls 30+ knots up to beautiful sunny sails and anchorages. If you like you can some impressions of two of the days including 4 season here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2i0k6xmgr9po5Y I absolutely fell in love with the sailing area and the San Juan Islands in particular. We hope to be back soon. It might be the Vancouver boat show in 2022…

This is the cleverest designed sailboat I’ve ever seen. So well thought out, makes use of all space available. Love the moving steering wheel and secret room. Is this any design relation to Mascot 35ds ??

Wonderful boat. Nice video. I got a little shock seeing the quite tight passing the green buoy at 3:45 😅 I love the steering wheel.

Hey what is this supposed to mean? It was me on the wheel! ...which is a great feature, offered by Jefa-Steering. I always wonder why we do not see it more often. I had first seen it ...and got the idea from a Canadian water plane as the captain ask me sitting next to him "if I like to have a try" and canted the pedestal over to me ;-). But yes, it´s a great feature, offered by the world`s leading producer of steering systems. Have seen it on some race and sporty boats for which is has been invented

self tacking jib + furling code zero for the win. jib is only there for close haul, code for close reach to board reach plus light wind conditions. with this set up there really isn't a need for a big heavy genoa. self tack jib is really really good as long as you only use them for close haul. soon as pointing fall off they arent as useful due to side and cut. but they are super good. it's just a paradigm shift in terms of how fore sails are used. 100% recommend over traditional set up.

@@SiriusYachts Thanks. I've been onboard the 31DS and 35DS at the Southampton Boat Show after reading the great review in Yachting Monthly. Really well thought out layout. The whole is bigger than the parts.

@@mikewillis2934 thank you! Glad you had seen her. Yes, the article of Yachting Monthly asking on the title page: „Is this the best boat ever built?" and going on with "It`s the highest score we’ve ever awarded, by some distance" (still valid), "the Sirius 35 DS is the best cruiser he’s ever tested.“ and that from a legend like Chris Beeson ... still makes me red on my cheeks ...and has drawn a lot of people

If than that many owners bringing in so many ideas and experiences ...something like this could be the result

Sirius surely is a fantastic boat yard. The design is thought through - it is probably the world's best construction of a deck saloon yacht. I had the pleasure of testing the smaller version of this boat some time ago and the boatyard really took a lot of time - we spent several hours (!) on the water and I really liked by the boat. In the end our decision taken nevertheless was to the favour of a new Hallberg-Rassy model, more sporty and somehow the wood work also looked nicer inside, though quality surely is at least as high on a Sirius (as is the price which is even higher). Still , Sirius is a great boatyard and their dedication and customer focus impressed me great time.

Saw it at the boat show in Germany 2019. I like it, its a bit pricey but all new sail yachts are. Its motorsailer look is very appealing, with all the light and round view in the living. When I'm done motor yachting ( doing that for the comming 3-4 years in Holland and Germany ) its one of the top contenders for the sailing yacht, for my baltic sea trip. I'm also looking at a catamaran for that, but the broad size might be something I am not looking forward to. Lovely looking boat this Sirus 35 :)
@SiriusYachts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I am glad you like it! The Sirius 35 DS is in particular constructed "into" the Baltic. For that reason she is only 3,45m in width in the hull (plus 8cm for the rubbing streaks on the widest part of the hull) ….and even with this slim hull it is a challenge in many cute little Danish and Swedish harbours to find a wide enough berth ….. I guess that’s one of the reasons you nearly never see any catamarans in the Baltic

Thx to Marie (was watching her channel visiting the boot fair) I got very much interested in this boat she loves....I went to c ur website afterwards and watch you presenting the 35DS... but this combination of you two was grand 👍🏼. Since about two weeks I am hooked to this idea of starting sailing. Thx to KZbin there is so much to view & learn...my favorite configuration became a ketch with a center cockpit (to feel save inside I guess) but now knowing the the Sirius 35DS exists...I have a goal. Please keep this fantastic concept !!! Greetings and tschüss NiC
