It's a classic for sure but very much sounds like the 80s. Which isnt bad but I wouldn't say it's timeless. Some songs seriously seem to have a sound seperate from the decade they were in. This isn't one of them. Still a great song.

Well you can’t put a blanket statement on all 80’s artists. Some like Axl Rose sound awful. This guy just took care of his body and likely kept up with his voice. Warm ups, lack of drinking drugs etc. Good for him

I can’t find a single flaw with this song. Perfection in every way. To me, it is relatable to everyone if you truly understand the lyrics. It essentially asks the question, “How do you go for what you want in life without harming or stepping on others?” Or maybe, “How do you attack your ambitions without damaging or harming the world?” At least that’s how I’ve always felt about it. It makes you think. I love this band. I’ve probably heard this song 1,000 times and it doesn’t seem like enough. So good to see them doing so well.

The famous English classical composer Peter Warlock once wrote that there's no such thing as "old" music or "new" music, only "good" music and "bad" music. Good music, he said, is as fresh and alive as the day it was written - and I feel this song fits that description perfectly.

What I loved was that Tears for Fears✌🌞 rocked, but if you took the time to listen to the lyrics, they were so🌻 meaningful and truthful! Apropos to this day🌈 Yet another demonstration of "ageless" great music💜That said,I wonder if you remember this song at the end credits of ,"Real Genius" starring Val Kilmer!! I'm 53, playing with accurate tempo tends to get easier over time, not harder. You do get to a point where age catches up to you, but honestly playing instruments doesn't require massive strength or stamina -- just some. So some of us can play into our 70's to be honest, without slowing down particularly, barring things like arthritis or disorders that specifically disable the hands or wrists.

It’s fake. Totally flattened out digitally. I get that they feel they need to do that at their age, but I’d rather hear their voices with age and imperfections in it than digitally altered processes sound. Listen to Bob Dylan in Rough & Rowdy Ways, Jerry Garcia singing Visions of Johanna live in 95 shortly before his death, for example. Very different than their younger voices, but real-and powerful in their own way IMO.
