The scene Cameron was talking about was actually one of the most brutal scenes I've ever seen. Like I've seen stuff like 13 reasons why (the uncut, original version) and like brutal shit in general but to see characters you're so close to go through something so horrible is honestly next level. Like its not only the fact that it was like quite uncensored rape but it was also the fact that Mickey was like almost unconscious in that scene. And how Noel acted in that one... You could literally see his eyes say 'im sorry' and 'im scared'. It's also important for Mickey's character. When he said somewhere in season 1 I think 'if my dad finds out about this he will kill me himself' you as a viewer go like 'yeah well.... Probably not.' but in that scene you can see that his fear of his father is actually justified. Idk it's one of the most important scenes for Mickey in my opinion even if it's so unapologetically brutal.
@kaydenmarlow39062 жыл бұрын
Shows like this are my absolute favorite. 13 reasons why, shameless.. they're scripted, but they feel real. It's different than shows like the office where the point is solely comedy. I think it's so much better when you feel you can relate to the pain they feel.

Cameron Monaghan really seems like an insightful person and a fantastic casting choice for Ian. The char's journey is so complex and wonderful because he has so much that separates him from his family. Simply being empathetic to Monica more than his siblings is such a wall. I really appreciate they all seem to take the directorial decisions seriously which must be difficult for actors professionally. Because most shows are not as deliberate and well-developed as Shameless. I think that's why they take so much pride in sticking out the difficult scenes. They really did make for the most memorable and interesting commentary, on individuals, on *~.;society`~*., on relationships, and especially on shame.

I'm late to this party obviously but as a paid actor, meaning it's your job, the gender of the person you are doing an intimate scene with should not matter at all. Other people might be uncomfortable, yes, so they shouldn't be actors. That's basically saying if you are a straight actor you feel sexual attraction toward another actor of the opposite sex when you have an intimate scene. No, you don't. It's a job, you are getting paid to do it, it absolutely should not matter and if it does you are a shitty actor then, find another job.

@@veganmilk728 , in most places, it's not legal to ask an actor their sexual orientation. But I would ask questions about willingness to play gay scenes at the point of auditioning and hiring. I wouldn't hire an actor who said they didn't want to do same sex relationships or scenes. Especially for long term adult series that get emotionally intense, not only is that homophobic (I don't want homophobes on set), such an actor puts limitations on where story lines can go. Just like I wouldn't hire an actor who said they wouldn't participate in love story line with a person from another race. From the actor's point of view, I would always want an Intimacy Coordinator hired to help with touching and sex scenes, emotions and choreography.

I have to say I completely disagree with you though, this show is about life on a rough council estate in the north west of England and it simply doesn't translate across the pond. Now, after watching the original British version, my daughters totally agree. As brilliant as William H Macy is he just doesn't get who frank Gallagher is, Frank is a product of broken Britain, not just an alcoholic junkie, and the main point the US writers missed is that frank is a survivor and no matter what he would never have taken his own life, that's just not who frank Gallagher is.

The scene that has always stuck with me since first watching the show years ago is when Monica slit her wrists. For those couple episodes you see Monica seemingly get her shit together, so Fiona is trying to get her life and freedom back and doesn't realize that it's just a manic episode until Lip gives her a wakeup call. Fiona then submits to the fact that nothing has changed and she still has to be the parent. And then the scene in the kitchen.... the acting, the music score. It definitely had a lasting impression on me

Love that Cameron spoke about *that scene* cause I feel like it's not talked about enough. I skip it because it's THAT uncomfortable and disturbing to watch. I've seen gorey torture porn horror movies that are easier to watch that *that scene*.

Weird how all the "situations" are from season 3. Ian and Micky relationship gets "discoverd" micky`s dad, Lip and the Teacher, Debs and the mean girls, V and the three-some. All of that happend in season 3... It was an insane season of shameless

Its their professionalism that stops them from admiting that there surely were many moments, when they were not in agreement with creators intent. I mean...they know their characters. They gotta know how much some of the stuff is not really fitting in the character arc. I dont believe for a moment they dont see what I see:-D Unless I see ghosts and am absolutely delusional. Noel, Cam...:-D

@jq4444 Жыл бұрын
I'm currently re-watching the entire show and I have to compliment these actors for delivering something that hits home no matter the background. I have to add a special thank you to you being vulnerable, it made every scene so real that it could have been a scene from a live show. Incredibly every one of the Gallagher children showed that they could be Frank given the right circumstances and they portrayed that side of them where they are so similar to Frank in a superb way. Thank you!

I think the last comment made by Lip (I'm not versed in his real name, sorry) Is the strongest of all. Imagine the pain of some actors watching directors producing nonsense to make the show last longer and to produce a profit. Imagine how much that hurts the actors who're invested in their character. I've never thought of that.

I have recently been binge watching (2 episodes every day) until s6 where I am now. And I've really fallen in love with all of the characters. I love how the writers put so much into each character in the chaos world of the show. Wow. I absolutely love this video/interview, there is so much insight. I ditn even know the actors names and I'm learning them now. Complete respect and admiration for these actors that have captivated me so well.

For some reason, that scene where Fiona had to strip for the officer and show every crevice of her body where she could have been hiding drugs…made me twist and turn in my seat. I know it’s not the most uncomfortable scene of the show, considering Karen fucked Frank or Eddie killing himself. But that scene with Fiona and the officer sticks in my head forever.
