The reason why Houndoom and Scizor melted is because their Pokédex entries both state that that’s what happens when they overexert themselves, and as they kept missing, they kept building up energy and melting.

Tyranitar taking 0 damage and laughing at Mewtwo is because Tyranitar is immune to ALL types of damage according to the pokedex, and since mega tyranitar has only 2 pokedex entries, they used pokedex entries for regular tyranitar as well
