Aw! Tqsm for correcting me, Kylo's name kept popping up in my head for this but I always felt it doesn't look quite right. Turns out I couldn't even recognize Revan, the "star" of KOTOR :-D

what review is this comparing the lenses???? one is 1/5 second the other one is 1/30....at this focal length 1/5 seconds ....and its confusing...Sigma is on tripod and the Sirui not???

Both mounted on tripod on the same camera. I shot some with quicker shutter speed as the light was changing as I took the test shot, these were shot during sunrise as I didn't have a lot of time to complete the testing. That being said, if it's on a tripod, shutter speed shouldn't matter, at least not for a 85mm shot at 1/5 or 1/30s.

@@quagmire321able this is not true - subject motion blur will be impacted by the shutter speed, so faster is always better...at least 1/focal length if not more. Even on tripod.

Thank you. Could you test it on an APSC camera as the lens is also launching on Fuji X? Do you think the sharpness would be enough for the more demanding APSC sensor? Obviously it's worse than the Sigma and new GM, but which lens for $500 isn't, right

Exactly! I actually forgotten to test it on APS-C crop mode on my Sony. Will do so in the future.

Holllly s* i just ordered one! So its look like its out of focus a lot of time! I have to cancel this order, WHAT about Samyang 85? Can you compare it to GM and Sirui?

No sir, not a lot but just worse than the Sigma. I used it to shoot a lot of other photos and it worked fine. I haven't tested the Samyang thoroughly enough to say anything about it but I am sure there are already plenty of reviews online for that lens.

I would say the 85mm GM II would be the best with the GM I and Sigma following it for E-mount.

@@alyousuf combination of image quality, focusing speed, features & compatibility with Sony bodies and to a smaller extent, build quality (at least Sony provides a lot more details about their weather + dust sealing than Sigma).

You really can’t test a lens except on focusing on a chart with a flash on a tripod to eliminate shake

It seems so and considering the launch price, the Sirui is an alternative I'd consider myself if I didn't have the Sigma myself.
