i pull focus on my Vazen 40 mm by myself all the time... I've shot full concerts handheld with it.

It's worth noting that vazen is ef mount, which counts as two lenses on crop sensors. The sirui are only one focal length because of the limited mounting options.

OMG dude you nailed this footage! People complain about the 1.33 sqeeze of the Sirui but miss out on the actual quality, they look better than most lenses and I prefer the look over my Sigma 18-35 but that's just me. I don't see the big difference from the Vazen to the Sirui. The background of the Vazen is more blurry but that could be the fact that the Sirui is sharper? I now think I'm going test this bokeh clearity theory with mt Tiffen Pro Black Mist and see if it softens the bokeh as well lol. Great footage either way, Please keep up the good work!

It's called barrel distortion and it's a key characteristic in anamorphic shooting. The Sirui doesn't have it as much because it's not really a true anamorphic lens its a pseudo anamorphic

Id say that a 2x squeeze is perfect for insta. You have loads of room to crop it so it's a square, giving you plenty of composition choice, and the extra squeeze will impart some actual anamorphic look onto the footage. The Sirui does almost nothing in your footage. Take away the horrible blue flares and there's almost nothing going on. The Vazen clearly gives the background squeeze giving that separation so you don't meet to blur the life out of the background.

That the Sirui and Vazen lenses are even comparable is a huuuuuuge deal. It's really a good time to get into anamorphic shooting!

For me Vazen lenses giving much more this anamorphic flava. I think, If they can make 35mm in same weight, it will be the most wannable lense ever. For me 28mm is to wide and close focus is to long.

Didn't see a big difference actually you used the lenses in 2 difference scenes, and you did not compare the glare or the ovals this comparison is just like a guy trying to convince his wife to buy a toy he doesn't need...
