Lol, Jumanji was one of my favourite movies as a kid. I wasn't scared of it. Maybe only the spiders. They freaked me out haha

I think what Roger meant was that Pacino and De Niro had never been on screen together before. Both of them played in Godfather Part Two but never played a scene together in that movie.

I was never into dramas about life in Merrie Olde England until I happened to pick up a few of them on DVD and Blu-Ray at the local dollar store. Once you start watching those period dramas you really get hooked. Now I'm an Anglophile and I'm going to have to seek out Sense and Sensibility.

Fact! in Mr. Holland's Opus, it's the Seattle Symphony who's actually playing the music in the movie. And even when the students perform poorly at first, it's also done by the Seattle Symphony.

Jumanji will always be a crowd favorite(no not the remake/reboot whatever) and Robin Williams killed this role. Heat is a top 5 movie of all time and I still have to watch Nixon and Mr Holland as they seem great.

Mr. Holland's Opus is definitely worth a watch, and so is Jumanji...to some extent

Heat is an underrated cops and robbers masterpiece. They both missed the mark about Jumanji. It's an underrated, sleeper classic that inspired a very good sequel. Like with Hook, what makes Jumanji work is Robin Williams

I've seen all these movies except for Jumanji. All the movies on this episode that I have seen are good movies 😁.

Crazy week for movies that year! They are way off on their Othello analysis. Iago's motivation being completely unknowable is the point. Shakespeare never cemented why the villain was destroying his supposed best friend's life, and that makes it hit all the harder at the end when Otehllo asks him why he has been brought so low. Was it just because Iago resented a moor being given position ahead of him and getting all the accolades? Was it tied up in deep seated racism and homophobia? I could write a thesis paper on the subject, but in summary. The movie was directed by Branagh, he is divulging exactly as much of Iago's motives as he needs to which is very little, the villain is more evil for his deeds to have so little clear motivation, it is frightening that someone so close to you could harbor such ill intent with no clear gain for themselves, as if (shocker) some people are just psychologically damaged and truly evil. I love Iago's portrayal in that film, definitely the best part of the movie.

I agree 💯. Great analysis!

It might have been a good movie, but I'm sorry, I just cannot buy Anthony Hopkins as Nixon. Hopkins has never been convincing in any of his attempts at any sort of American Accent. I can still hear that crisp (and I must say, beautiful) Welsh through all of it.

LOL the "worst" movie turned out to be the most successful.

Nixon was a boring as hell movie, but Joan Allen truly deserved an Oscar for her performance. Not a nomination, but the statuette itself.
