This saddens me knowing Gene never lived to see Toy Story 2 and the fact that Roger Ebert never saw 4. I’m literally just imagining the review Gene Siskel would give the sequels as well as what Roger Ebert would have to say about Toy Story 4 and just how big and popular the franchise has become!

As much as I love this movie and Pixar as a company; I do resent that it single-handedly wiped traditional hand drawn animation from American cinema. It's been nearly 30 years of 3D and I'm over it big time and so are many animators. And we all know the only reason for this is because studios want to save on profit and make guaranteed box office sales.
@awsomeboy360 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. And they kept producing quality, after quality. That's what truly ended it. Pixar didn't just release one film, they dominated until 2010. 2D imo WILL make its come back.

It's been nearly 30 years of Toy Story, and it never gets old for me, or the three movies that followed. Like with Siskel, I liked the way the people and buildings were constructed, as well as the characters created, all throughout the movie. However, it still saddens me, that Siskel never got a chance to see Toy Story 2 (my most favorite T.S. film of them all), in which he would've got the chance to acknowledge how far they took their chases and sequences, while the whole toy gang was in Al's apartment, going down the elevator with Emperor Zurg, going through the luggage carousel with Pete the Prospector, and the final climax on the airplane, between Woody and Jessie. Siskel would've been so amazed at all of that, for sure. He is truly missed.

Toy Story is my favorite Disney movie and one of my Top 10 favorite movies- a list that includes 2001: A Space Odyssey, Citizen Kane, and The Godfather. I think I've seen it a literal 100 or so times. And watching it as an adult and seeing it as the first computer animated movie, it is "dazzling" as Gene puts it. I could watch the movie with the sound off and enjoy it just as much on that alone (if I had to.) :)

Because these segments were never meant to be full reviews. They were short reviews that people watched to decide which movies to go see. As Ebert mentioned, the plot isn’t anything revolutionary. What was amazing at this time of Toy Story’s release was the animation style.
