Nobody did Legal dramas like Sidney Lumet. Also, kudos to Andrzej Bartkowiak's beautiful cinematography.

George Gaynes name did not immediately come to mind when I recently heard it. He was a singer actor and voice artist who lived to age 98. When I recently saw a short clip of Tootsie an immediate smile came to my lips. He was the love interest of Tootsie in addition to the foster Father of Punky Brooster, a character well worth remembering,

You don't remember the many, many performances he gave as Cmdt. Lassard in the Police Academy movies? He was also, along with Christine Lahti, one of the few Finns in Hollywood.

It's funny how watching this stuff at a young age we were annoyed by the commercials, now it's the best part 😂

Well it doesn't overshadow S&E's reviews. But it is worth watching the commercials too because it makes the video feel even more nostalgic.....not to mention how they are made far better than the commercials that we have today.

I agree with two thumbs up for the Verdict. I didn't care for Tootsie as it tried to be too cute but Sophie's Choice was a real heartbreaker and beauitfully narrated by Sam Waterston.

The attempt to kiss in the opening seconds is such a spoiler for that film. So glad I did not watch this back in 1983.

At the 4:01 mark, great ad for the RCA VideoDisc player. Videotape machines of Beta and then VHS would be the death of that VideoDisc format until DVDS came along. At the 4:41 mark, the commercial for Duncan Hines cake mix made me hungry. Cherries Jubilee anyone? The Movies for me: AIRPLANE 2 rates 4/10; TOOTSIE rates 7/10; SOPHIE'S CHOICE rates 8/10; THE VERDICT rates 10/10. Paul Newman was so good at being a failure redeeming himself.

I sure do miss these guys. Neither of them was spot on 100% of the time, but at some point it didn't matter.

Sophie’s Choice is a brilliant film. I disagree with Gene; I think Nathan is every bit as equal with Sophie in his madness. The humanity of this film is astounding and I mourn the loss of Pakula, a magnificent director.

Three great Eighties classics, and they start with the worst sequel to a great comedy ever.

tootsie is waaaaay overrated. u have to suspend all reality to believe Dustin is a woman and that ANYONE would find him attractive or that any woman would look up to “her”. ridiculous

Hoffman is homely, who makes an even homlier woman.
