She uses a microphone to convey the delicacy. Singers like Caballe do it without a microphone, because they sing exclusively from the diaphragm, not just the throat. I prefer Caballe's singing, which is delicate and powerful at the same time.

Any other way you have heard that person is with the use of a microphone picking up the sound of the voice,in one way or another. I'll take a wild guess that the latter is the one you have enjoyed. And then complaining about Sissel using a mic is... - yeah you figure it out. 😉

I remember watching the movie TITANIC as most people of the 90s' generation has. I was this stunned 8 year old when this movie came out, my eyes glued to the TV as the INTRO music (of the movie) and the scene of the bustling harbor came onto the screen. Back then, I didn't know it was Sissel who sang the into as well as other parts for TITANIC. The 'internet' was a thing of the future then. But, I remember her angelic sound that will haunt me till the day I die. No matter how old I get or whichever worries I carry with me in life, Sissel's voice is like a balm for the soul. Words can't begin to express how Beautiful, how clear and refined this amazing Soprano's voice is. May she always finds joy in music.

Just discovered the beauty that is Sissel a few months ago. As one of her songs says, all good things come to those who wait. This good thing has arrived and I am over the top with her singing. wow... I've had the fortune of knowing of her for many years (even well before youtube, even before Titanic). She was being played on a classical station here in West Palm Beach in the mid 90's and THAT was where I heard her for the first time. could not believe what I was hearing had to stop my vehicle. the song was "Imagine" written by Lennon.

I guess you, Lee Cowell, wasn't prepared for what you heard. How did you take notice of her name? 'Kyrkjebø' barely exist in English. Even 'Sissel' may be challenging when a forreigner hear for the first time. Were you able to maintain listen to her music? I don't know if her music were released in the US.
