Aid to families with dependent children (AFDC) was for families facing financial hardship according to my late grandmother! Down south you had to have had a husband and he had to be deceased or incarcerated. Now, it’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and it’s single mother homes instead of widows! Child support pays the state back for TANF and Medicaid benefits. My late grandmother said we need to stop having baby showers for single mothers because that’s condoning ungodly whoring behavior! Has lived with me my whole life!!!

My ant was a social worker and she said, she couldn't take it anymore, so she move to elderly care, because it was so unfair to FBA people. It was a trap and so many of our people fell for it and it was met to destroy Black families. I can understand them taking the check, the jobs BW had were maids, cleaning jobs, mostly paid under the table with no benefits, hell, a lot of them didn't get social security, because employers didn't takeout for it. It's a lot of reason behind the why they did this and why they did that. What the new generation like you and I have to do is correct these situations, fight for it and another thing, we never got help until after the civil rights movement, we got no benefits at all.

The SAME government that offered our Blk women welfare, had caused employment problems for Blk men, rendering them incapable of (legally) supporting their families comfortably. It didn't happen to all Blk families tho (my great grandfather had 15 children, my grandfather, 2 & neither of them EVER left home). When children are hungry & mothers get desperate enough, they will accept assistance. Some men likely agreed & left home so she could get it, but just never returned (yes, that happened too). Blk families were exploited by the gov but the men weren't victimized by Blk women. Plus, the welfare situation back then was no picnic for Blk women. The state would come inside their homes, itemizing everything. I'd say today's generation refuses to study history & instead only knows how to misplace their anger towards soft targets.

It's now 2022 & families with mothers AND fathers can receive food stamps IF they qualify. So suffice to say it's NOT welfare keeping Black men out of the homes. Phil: "Black women chose welfare instead of struggling with the Black man." ⭕Actually, NOT Black women, but Black MOTHERS chose welfare benefits to bring in food, housing etc to care for their children when the Black man could not provide enough financial support to sustain his families' needs when employment opportunities were scarce for Black men. Of course, this was all by design, however, those men could've taken it as a chance to regroup, become more financially stable & provide for his family, but many chose to spread themselves even thinner by creating multiple* families they were still unable to support.
