Not going to Ysabel’s surgery was so awful. I’m not kidding, I was shocked when I found out that he actually did and said those things. Then when he sat her down, told her her like “are you sure it’s fine? You’re not gonna become a bitter old housewife?” I became so legitimately angry at that scene. I was shaking. For him to refuse to go, AND then tell her that he doesn’t want her to be bitter and hurt about it later was TERRIBLE parenting. That one scene, I was like he deserves every ounce of the hate that he gets. I am still gobsmacked, to this day. I am in my 30’s, and a few years ago I got appendicitis. I was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery, and my Mom sat with me in the hospital. My husband stayed home with the kids. Then my Dad, he called in to work and stayed with me for DAYS. He sat bedside, helped me dress, eat, everything. I also have a lot of siblings, but my dad would drop everything when we need him. Kody not going was the last straw for Christine, I think. She lost every ounce of respect she had ever had for him. And probably so did his daughter. She’ll never forget it.

Then every time you try to move to a new conversation they trail it back to their misfortunes and what victims they are. Then when you leave, you are completely drained and have a dull headache.

As I've heard it, Jackie was in an online group with Kendra, yet Jackie started catfishing on her own volition. Then, once Jackie established connection with Meri, and Jackie was engaged in actual communication with Meri - as Sam - it was then that Jackie told Kendra about it. Then Kendra would tell Robyn that Meri was having an affair.

During the pandemic, I was part of a group that watched Sports Night and a few episodes of other shows that Joshua Malina and Hrishi Hirway talked through. We all watched the show on one device and chatted with Josh and Hrishi on another. It spawned a nice little community. The different Patreon levels included different perks. apparently, if you’re a TLC personality doing a commitment ceremony you’re guaranteed that your commitment will be broken very soon. Look at John and Kate +8 before their vowel renewal, even aired they had filed for divorce.

Great point. Christine was behind the Brown Commitment Ceremony - as she could see that Robyn's presence was changing the family dynamic. Ch also planned the family tree of hand prints in cement in her back yard. Ch worked really hard to try and hold the family culture together, when she noticed it was in danger. But as you've all noted - a commitment ceremony is really a harbinger for eventual demise.

It's not even just TLC. Any of the Housewives from Bravo that did a vow renewal ended up divorced too. Also most that got married on TV have ended up divorced. Let's cross our fingers for Christine and hope the 1 divorce was the only reality curse for her.

A mission statement is fit for a business not a family. The day they started to treat the family as a business, it was over. Robyn always saw the family as a business for her. That’s why she’s destroyed by seeing her plan being ruined. IMO

That's such a good point. A family doesn't need to be united in purpose and values because people are allowed to want different things and grow and change. Especially when children become adults, a family becomes less about common beliefs and desires and more about love and wanting to be together despite differences that may have developed. I was raised LDS, so the mission statement wasn't odd to me at first. Now I see how it's just weird for a family.

I think Robyn saw the commitment service as being the other wives and children commuting to HER AND HER CHILDREN. Not about her commuting to the family as an equal. I think she only sees the family as for her or against her.

Yeah, the commitment ceremony was very boring THEN! But now in retrospect, it's fascinating! I wish TLC would still ask Robyn again to watch and comment. It was during the footage of that event that Robyn walked out while performing her anxiety attack. The LAST thing Robyn wanted to do was to have to watch all the wives read their commitments to the family that she played a major role in destroying.
