"IT'S GREEEEN!" 🤣 I have fewer locs than I initially expected too (465 but I have a seriously giant head). At my consultation, my loctician had estimated I would have well over 500. So at first I was like WAH but now seeing the ladies with really high loc counts trying to self maintain and combining because it's too much, I'm really just focusing on enjoying my own journey and not stressing. I'm a month in so it's encouraging to see your concerns there have subsided. Great video and your hair looks fab!

I’ve been waiting for an update... glad to see you and from the thumbnail, you’re hair looks lovely. 🙂 it looks like you’ve gained some length also. I’ve been wanting locs for about 10 years now, but I’m in love with my loose natural hair too much. I love watching though your progress updates!

Hey Dana! I really need to get better at doing the updates. 😅 Thank you for watching, and yeah, when i go back and look at the thumbnails, I definitely see some growth too! 😊

First, good to see you back! Congrats on Grad school - stay encouraged, connected, and let your brilliance shine. My SL install was completed on 8.19.20 and I'm loving & learning MY journey. I had traditional locs (cut them out 2013) and I would not recommend grooming at all! Had it done once and started shedding small pieces of hair and it seemed to disturb the integrity of my locs, which were mature when the grooming was done. But that was my experience. Your SL look good - they are growing, look healthy, and your face shows you feel much better about 'the process'. #trustit

Yeah I don’t sweat the numbers. I have fine hair so I only have 380 sisterlocks but I love them. Sisterlocks told me that officially sisterlocks begin at 350. It used to be 400 then they changed it apparently. Your hair looks amazing and it has grown so much 🙌🏾
@ambyressence4 жыл бұрын
eatingwithselina I don’t sweat the numbers anymore either sis. It caused me sooo much unnecessary stress lol. I’m happy to hear you’re loving your Sisterlocks!! How long have you had them? Thank you for the compliments and thank you for watching!! 😊💕

AmbyrEssence I have had them for 6 months now. So far so good

That is so silly... the whole number of locs thing as it depends on the person’s hair, density, thickness 🤷🏽♀️ Oh humans lol

I'm 3 months loc'd, so good to see others further along in terms of length - gives me hope - your hair looks great

Hi your locs look so healthy and definitely thicker and longer. I am coming up to 6yrs locd (3 of those years was with a certified SL consultant, the rest has been with a former SL consultant) and I've only ever put conditioner on my locs when they feel particularly dry, not every time I wash it (I water it down because I don't want to encourage any unnecessary build up). I add moisture from my own spritz mix when I feel my locs need it, more so when the climate is hot and drying to my locs. I've never been tempted to groom my locs as I personally don't feel it's necessary to do it. However if you feel the need to groom your locs, you should go with what you feel is right for you. Its your personal journey and I believe it's important to follow your instincts. Hth xxx

Hi Marcia! Thank you for this comment! It was super informative. I absolutely agree with you about the importance of following one's instincts 😊. It's nice to hear from someone who has never groomed her locs! Did you go through a frizzy stage? And if so, did the loose/frizzy hairs eventually make their ways into a loc?
@marciajohnson18254 жыл бұрын
@@ambyressence hi thanks for responding. Yes I most certainly did go through the fuzzy stage, and yes they do make their way into the loc matrix. I religiously cover them once I'm indoors with a satin smooth bonnet or scarf and am very mindful of the materials of tops, cardigans, jumpers, coats with hoods etc I wear because of build-up and the potential to rough up my crown. I have to confess I'm one of those sisters who absolutely adored my locs from day one. I embraced and loved my locs throughout every stage of the loc process and nurtured them tenderly. I adore my crown (which is how I see them). My only regret, if you can call it that, is that I didn't get them years ago. Sending much love from the UK 🇬🇧

Marcia Johnson I thought that the frizzies would make their way into the loc matrix eventually! It’s good to have that confirmed. I’m also hyperaware of the fabrics/materials I let rub against my locs lol. I love to hear that you embraced your locs from day one!! 😊 It took me a while to arrive at that point. But now that I have, I accept everything about these locs- frizz and all lol. Much love 💕😊

I’m so excited. I have had my consultation and i have tester sisterlocks in. My establishment is coming soon, so I’m just soaking up all the knowledge.

I had my hair locked for 10 years and for frizzing I would just roll them between my fingers while watching a show. The more you self groom the neater they became and quicker they locked solidly.
@Ncognito5793 жыл бұрын
Do you have a video of this? How does it then stay in place though?
@sonjawalton29954 жыл бұрын
Yes, seeing length. Wear a bonnet. Sleep in bonnet. Watch the clothing you wear. Wear your hair up with lindy sweaters.

I have 330 locs and I want to keep my loose ends, so I condition weekly. I started them as two strand twist back in April, I go to a loctician every six weeks for retie.

Your locs look lovely😍 How long were your locs when you started?
@ambyressence4 жыл бұрын
PattiLaPalma * thank you!! 😊🤩 my hair was around 14 inches long when I started my locs (past bra-strap length). Of course, my locs never looked that long though because my hair has so much shrinkage lol.

No don’t let grooming happen to your locs it will ruin them frizz is part of having locs far as conditioner I wouldn’t use it until your locs have matured I waited until my locs were one year conditioner will cause unraveling if used too early
@ambyressence4 жыл бұрын
Fatima Manneh thank you for sharing tips/advice! 😊 I’ve heard that grooming can ruin locs. I’m leaning towards not having them groomed right now. I’m also leaning towards waiting for my one year locaversary to use conditioner. Thank you for watching!
