Sisters in Cinema founder Yvonne Welbon said no one should have to leave their community to achieve their dreams.
On June 29, at its new production space, the Sisters in Cinema Media Arts Center hosted a launch event, in collaboration with the first Sundance Institute in Chicago, for the Chicago Media Coalition. The coalition brings together four local media nonprofits - including Sisters in Cinema, Full Spectrum Features, Mezcla Media Collective and Open Television (OTV) - to build a sustainable and equitable diverse media system.
The TRiiBE’s video coverage, shot by Morgan Elise Johnson, features interviews with Colette Ghunim, co-founder of Mezcla Media Collective; and Elijah McKinnon, co-founder and executive director of OTV.
