The Tree is the internet, Mask is anonymity that Yoohyeon is sitting in. Living online gives them the Odd Eye (through their phones etc.) where hey think online is utopia but actually it is a plausible lie and mirage. Gahyeon goes online, gets the Odd Eye, then you see her marked by all the text symbols. Yoohyeon drinks the poison. Sua gets cursed (curses others?), those symbols on her face are spellcasting-related in Asian stories (GI-DLE Minnie had them in Queendom Latata casting a spell on the audience). There is the poster of the Tree (the internet) labeled Reality. Now you know what to look for go stream it again!

From what I read, Jiu said in one of their interviews that the message at the end means that utopia doesn't exist, so you have to find it within yourself. My take on it is similar: even if you close your eyes to the world and just look at the pleasant things on the internet and social media, you'll still never find the utopia you seek because there are always fake people and darkness hiding behind the facade. You have to look at reality and come to terms with it or you'll never move forward. It's a powerful message that everyone should take to heart.

Thanks for the Dreamcatcher reaction. Being a JiYoo bias, my own bias Yoohyeon, was bias wrecking me the whole time. And more Dami is a good thing. My take .. Yoohyeon was 'normal eyed' till she drank. Social Media.(On their phones). We all 'drink' it in, (Yoohyeon), believing what is fed to us. But it is an illusion. (Odd eye), it shows us one thing, but behind the scenes its something totally different. Like a 'faker' that says they love us, but talks hate behind our back, (the walls melting, from their hateful comments.) The Utopia that is shown, doesn't exist. It's like a mask that everyone wears. So in the end, they couldn't find what they were searching for. The Tree of Language started out 'light', then turned 'dark', (dying), "when people forgot how to say good things'. Notice the date on Gahyeon's computer screen, it is April 08 2099. Things have gotten bad enough, with hate speech/comments/talk, that it looks like their trying to give life support to the Tree of Language, to keep it alive. (the intravenous bags in one of the photo shoots) .. or .. and this could be the situation as well .. Some one else also replied/mentioned to me, that they thought the Tree was hooked up to social media. Dreamcatcher thinking that it would revive the Tree, but instead it was killing the Tree. Is why there was no more Utopia.

I think Jiu said at their showcase that the song also means that we should find our own Utopia within ourselves or sth like that. I think she means that we shouldn't search for a Utopia elsewhere by trying to be something we're not (e.g. following trends on social media) because everything we see that SEEMS like perfection (e.g. being famous, flawless pictures on insta,...) is actually a "lie overshadowed by sweetness". Just find your own happiness and don't care too much about what other people (seem to) have that you don't and don't listen to people judging you because of that. I hope one day every one of you can say "Paradise is where I am" 💖

Yes, I clicked so fast when I saw the notification I was waiting for you guys to react to this they all did such an Amazing Job just Wow! Handong is finally back and she got some good Lines just Wow she looks so Gorgeous, and Dami did so well with her rap and her singing that blew me away, Siyeon just looks deadly and her Vocals are just Wow, Jiu looks so Gorgeous and her Vocals were Amazing, Gahyeon looks amazing and super crazy with her eyes her Vocals and her Rap was just Wow, Yoohyeon looks so Good her hair was just Gorgeous and her Vocals are just Wow, and Sua looked so Good with that writing on her face and she was just Gorgeous her Vocals were Amazing as well! There's no utopia because it's just reality and evil can't be destroyed completely. Also, the set changed from mediaeval and full of magic, to more futuristic and cyberpunk vibe, seems like everything was revealed, everyone saw the reality and woke up from the utopia they dreamed of after yoohyeon drank that med or potion? Oh right, they performed b-sides songs in their showcase, that was amazing, there are clips on KZbin, I wonder if they will also perform that on music shows☺️

Theory of MV: This MV is about how the media (represented by TV, phone and computer) show us fake comfort (represented by a mask chair). As it was sung "Like a new world of hope, but it is an altered reality of despair." The media show us a lot of good things in life that make us believe in the existence of a Utopia and give us hope. Even when we open our eyes, we see something good in it. According to the lyrics, this is sadness illuminated by light. This is a perfect illusion that hides reality. They sing about the use of our odd eye, the secretly hidden eye with which we must see beyond illusion. "Because how complex this world is right now, things can be deceiving. A smile can be a believable lie, clouded by sweetness. Even hope itself can ultimately lead us to despair." We see Yoohyeon drinking what she thought was wine but was actually poison. We see Gahyeon reaching for the computer, but eventually lights up. They give us false hope, but they end up traumatized when faced with the harsh reality of this harsh world. We literally hurt ourselves like Handong holds her neck with her own hands. Let go of the remote (Siyeon) and stop looking for this fake utopia (Sua/Jiu are running away). In the last chorus, they tell us to close our eyes so that we are not deceived by the false light of the world. So at least we would rather be in darkness than pursue something that does not exist. Jiu closes her eyes and holds a luminous bouquet in her hands so that we realize that utopia is not something that we should be looking for, it is something that we should create ourselves. sorry for my bad English.

Theory time! I've been an InSomnia since just before What era, so I was there for the Scream teasers. There was a storyline teaser that showed a drawing of 7 girls happy, then one of them disappeared and the others were upset. It then showed her stood in front of a tree surrounded by nice words, until those words turned bad, when she was suddenly an elderly woman. I believe that girl to be Handong. All the negativity aged her until she died of old age, leaving the tree of language without a main protector. Then, scream and Boca start. The other girls are minor protectors of the tree, without Handong's power, meaning that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't restore the tree. Skip to Odd Eye. In the future, the girls were loosing hope. The hate had spread so far that the effects were irreversible. Handong, now a spirit outside of time and space and unable to enter the mortal realm (The barrier and the fact that she's wearing brighter more innocent and godlike clothing than the rest) sees this. She is forced to watch her former friends corrupted and give up on the tree. Handong vanishes from the universe all together, hoping that with her gone the kindness would spread on earth instead of her being the only one with kindness left. It didn't work. Utopia could never be found and the guardian is lost forever.

During the Mymusictaste showcase they actually said they had a cyberpunk vibe. Not sure it was referring to Odd Eye, the album or the song Dami wrote on. But it's definitely a slightly different mood, but still so Dreamcatcher. I actually recently got an e-reader. It's better for your eyes than a tablet and I like to read before I sleep but don't have a good reading light so that's ideal. My favorite books depend on my mood. I love everything written by Richelle Mead, especially Vampire Academy. The movie, as usual for YA books, is such a summary. They tried but squishing 10+ hours of book into 2 is hard, and you miss the internal dialogue. My favorite series are the Dune books by Frank Herbert, love the intrigue and human behavior from individuals to an epic scale. The LotR of sci-fi. I'm really curious how the upcoming movies will portray the books. Similarly William Gibson, the founder of cyberpunk, is awesome. His short story bundle, including Johnny Mnemonic and Burning Chrome is a must-read. If you like it, you'll love Neuromancer (/Sprawl trilogy). The bridge trilogy includes Idoru, while it's a fictional future and about Japanese pop culture, it might be extra fun for k-pop fans. Unlike many sci-fi, it's not about gadgets or societal changes themselves, but how it affects people. I love books that make you think.

Here's what I can glean from the MV. We definitely know the girls transformed into Water Goddesses in Boca, during their fight against the people influenced by the corrupted fruits of the Tree of Language, which Gahyeon caused by destroying the core of the Tree in Scream. Handong disappeared in Scream as well. Odd Eye seems to continue with Sua, Jiu, Dami and Siyeon being the only goddesses left after the War, with Gahyeon isolating herself because of her guilt, and Yoohyeon drinking the fruit of the corrupted tree, being corrupted herself. Sua gets dragged into being corrupted by Yoohyeon as well. Jiu takes over as the caretaker of the tree, blinding herself with a blindfold to shield herself from the harsh words of the corrupted people. There's also a different dimension at play with Yoohyeon in the restroom, Siyeon's room with the TV's, Gahyeon's room with the PC, Dami in the train etc. This seems like a world where the girls fell into technology instead of the witches they once were. We see Handong somewhere kneeling over broken glass, and it looks to be sometime in the past, with her having two differently colored eyes. This seems to indicate that she sees both bleak outcomes of both dimensions. So she sets to repair it, also now evolving into a Goddess in the process. This is shown by the massive white explosion as she activates her ritual to merge the two universes together, as seen with the second dimension melting apart through the screens we see throughout them (Jiu and Siyeon's phones, Gahyeon's monitor). This is shown to have worked, and the Tree of Language dies as a result. So there is no more Utopia. But there is no Dystopia either with the Tree of Language removed from existence with Handong's actions.

'There's no happy ending?!' My thought is that this is like Star Wars. The films came in trios, and not all of them had a happy ending. The whole album has a way stronger story flow than quite possibly any of their others, and it ends with some hope in the New Day (DAMI WROTE IT AAAAAA) and its so good and I think the next album/album set will be continuing this language and witch/protector story. But if it doesnt, well, not all stories have good endings I suppose and that's a nightmare, isnt it? :D Im so glad you guys are on this great train with all of us, this has been their biggest CB ever and it's awesome and Im so happy for them, they deserve the world.

my interpretation is that people try to search for utopia(acceptance) through social media but can end up falling into alternative realities and view the world for not what it really is with their 'odd eye'. I'm sure you heard of crazy stories like how there are groups of people who think the world is flat, etc etc and when you have groups of people believing in alternate realities, it can create a dystopian society. so when they say no utopia in the song and the final message said they couldn't find dystopia, is like saying stop looking online for it maybe?
