The story of this MV: The girls split up after the events of You and I. They are all drawn to a city and they transform into modern nightmares due to the influence of modernity after holing up in a remote location for their photo studio. Each of them realize their new place in this modern world. Meanwhile, Jiu realizes why she's drawn to the city: deep in the city is the Nightmare Book. The city was built over the forest at the end of Good Night where they originally lost it. Jiu is still feeling guilty for not being able to save Yoohyeon from her nightmare. She then realizes using the book is their chance to open the way to the Nightmare World, and her vision of Yoohyeon at the end of the MV is her realizing this. Next up is Piri, the end of the Moden Nightmare arc. But y'all need to watch Piri and Breaking Out either on the same session or right after Piri, because they're alternate retellings of the same ending.

I had a theory since Deja vu was based on the King’s Raid: Pandemonium story, Eclipse would be the continuation of Deja vu and be based on King’s Raid: Rebellion story where the brother of the 2 main characters tries to save them from their fall to darkness. Maybe in Eclipse, it’s about how Yoohyeon’s rise from her fall and returns to normal. Idk but what y’all think

Finally someone appreciates Yoohyeon's flip like I do. Some reactors don't even seem to notice! The minialbum is called Alone in the City. At first I didn't like the look of What, seeming too much an actual set. The previous MV's had so much set dressing, lots of details that added to the atmosphere. I just love that. Then I realized the meaning, an abandoned cityscape that is meant to look "off", a nightmare version where you can look forever and not find someone. I now love the contrast and deeper meaning. 😄 You are so right, they are trying to rescue Yoohyeon from the upside down!

"What" was the song that made me a fan. I liked "You and I", but "What" convinced me. Note that there is no official explanation of the Nightmare Arc, there are only a few bits and pieces like them being Nightmares not Ghosts in the first two songs. So every interpretation is valid, and it's fun to speculate. I for instance believe that "You and I" follows up on "Fly High", not "Good Night", but both ideas are valid. I'm looking forward to your Piri reaction! I hope dolls don't scare you. 😉

I guess, the theory of "What" is not limited to the MV. If you look at the MV teaser there are also footage of Yoohyeon driving alone in the desert, then take a picture of something in the sand. Another teaser showing JiU standing alone beside a big cactus. Oh and also, there was a teaser which shows a bridge with words written on its sides, but deleted later since it's related to something controversial.

There's not a lot to say for this one. There isn't a lot of story progression in this MV and you guys already figured out most of it. To summarize, as you said Yoohyeon is still trapped in the nightmare and the girls are trying to find her. As you know, the next and final chapter is Piri. There's a lot more story involved with that MV. Naturally I'm not going to give you any spoilers, but I will give you some information that may help you understand the MV a little more when you react to it. The word 'piri' literally translates to 'pipe'. If you do a web search, you will probably come up with a traditional Korean double reeded flute but piri can also refer to any pipe-like wind instrument such as pan pipes, a recorder or even a hollowed out animal horn (remember that bit). In olden days Korean soldiers used to carry a piri and use it to call for help or sound the alarm (remember that bit too). Here endeth the lesson. The last thing I will tell you before I end this comment is that the Nightmare Arc does not have a happy ending. :)

What's storyline actually continues in the Japanese MV. The Japanese MV has things that are off compared to the Korean MV and members have switched places. The theory is that they are caught in a loop trying to rescue Yoohyeon and each time they go through the loop things get worse and worse until *spoiler alert* they end up in Piri's nightmare world.
