WayV are like the geeky dorks that grew up to be sexy and now want to flaunt it. They are chaotic and funny as hell together like their recent Disney Princess party for WinWin. Love Talk is another super sexual english song they have, which its funny I would say Love Talk and Bad Alive are maybe more romantic in terms used in Mandarin on the albums. Some people were like they are exploiting these boys but if you go back in their lives with fans when they get asked concepts they want to do they will say Sexy or "I want to do naked, i've been working on my body" Just something about how they all are together and the way they do their music makes them my favorite part of NCT.

Here is some information about how NCT works.I hope this might make it a little easier to understand. NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. NCT's whole concept as a group has to do with dreams and dreaming so everything you see in their MVs is some aspect of dreaming or being in a dream state, etc. NCT are SM Entertainment's newest/youngest group. It is no surprise that you are impressed by NCT's vocals, rapping and dancing, because as an SM Entertainment group that is just something we fans have come to expect. That's just a fact about the type of people that SM selects to be a part of its company. SM has become known for its amazing vocalists and dancers and that is one reason why it's one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. If you follow SM Entertainment groups, you will soon discover that all of SM's rappers were actually chosen to become trainees for their vocal and/or dancing skills. All of SM's rappers learned to rap, or at least became good at it, after they joined the company. Therefore, all of SM's rappers are amazing vocalists, as well as really good rappers. SM is known for having some of the best vocalists and dancers in the industry, being good at rapping is just a bonus. NCT (which stands for Neo Culture Technology) currently has 23 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units. The way NCT works is it's a group with an infinite number of members. (There are an unknown number of trainees who are still waiting to debut who could potentially become members of NCT.) As SM Entertainment's male trainees graduate from the training program and SM decides they are ready to debut, they become a member of NCT and they debut as part of one of NCT's sub-units. NCT is a very international group. The members as a whole currently represent 9 different countries and they speak 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo and Sungchan), Mark is Korean-Canadian, Johnny is Korean-American, Yuta and Shotaro are Japanese, Ten is Thai, Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With an infinite number of members and a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL The first unit to debut was NCT-U which began April 2016. NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the same members who are in NCT-127, plus they add and subtract other members from the other sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. The second sub-unit is NCT-127 (NCT-one two seven) which began July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members, however members can be added or removed from the group depending on the current concept for the song, etc. This group's members don't change quite as much as the other groups. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world. So it's 127's job to represent Seoul around the world. NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and, it is made up of all the youngest members of the group. All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 18 and 21 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created this sub-unit with the idea that If they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they are no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (who is also a member of NCT-U, NCT-127 -- the only NCT member to debut as part of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units -- and SuperM) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun, who are all now older than 19, we thought would be graduating sometime this year. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime this year and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM earlier this year announced that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole " graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. But this doesn't mean new members won't still be added to the group if SM decides a new trainee would fit well, etc. The fourth sub-unit is WayV which debuted at the beginning of 2019. They are NCT's Chinese sub-unit who produces songs in Mandarin and promotes in China. There are currently 7 members in this sub-unit. All the members of WayV have Chinese heritage, but like Ten who is Thai, they aren't all native Chinese. The reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name is because of the conflict between the Korean and Chinese government and how China was not allowing anyone associated directly with a Korean company to do business in its country. Because of this conflict SM had to find/create a Chinese company -- Label V -- that was willing to represent NCTs Chinese sub-unit, but would also allow SM to have control over the group's concept and activities. Most of the members of WayV were originally members of NCT-U + 3 new members who debuted specifically with WayV because they were Chinese. (Kun, the leader of WayV, debuted as a member of NCT-2018, which was a special project in 2018 with all 18 members of NCT at the time.) NCT was created by SM Entertainment in 2016 and the group is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's goal is to eventually have NCT sub-units in every major city in every country in the world. Some day they hope to, for example, take several Japanese members and create a Japanese sub-unit, or put together members from Thailand and create a Thai sub-unit, etc. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with songs like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, (If you haven't already, you should check out "Let's Shut Up and Dance" with Jason Derulo, Lay from EXO and NCT-127), as well as a U.S. concert tour and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So this year is NCT's 4th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies, so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted. For instance, Mark, Jeno, Jaemin, and Jisung (All NCT-Dream members.) were part of the Disney Channel Korea's Mickey Mouse Club and they starred on a regular weekly variety show on the Disney Channel for a year before debut. Mark was the oldest member at around 15 and Jisung, who is NCT's youngest member, was around 13 at the time. But other members also did other things as part of SMRookies as well. And then there are members such as Lucas who technically debuted in 2018, but we saw him in one of Ten's solo songs as a featured extra in 2017.

As I think you may know, WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT. NCT currently has 23 members and that includes all the WayV members. Currently, there are 7 members in WayV. Ten and Lucas are also members of NCT-U and SuperM; Winwin is also a member of NCT-U and NCT-127, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Yanyang, Xiaojun and Hendrey only just debuted this past year when WayV debuted at the beginning of 2019. And you are right, Lucas and Xiaojun were in NCT-U's "Make a Wish." NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the members of NCT. When it comes to NCT-U projects you never know who will be part of the group. NCT-U is designed to be able to add and subtract any of the members from the other NCT sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. As part of NCT's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit, not only do the members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but Ten is from Thailand so he speaks Thai, Lucas is from Hong Kong so he speaks Cantonese and a little Thai because his mom is Thai; and Yangyang grew up in Germany so he speaks German. WayV is a very international group that speaks many languages, but they all have Chinese heritage which is why SM chose them to be a part of this group. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk." or if you happen to pick the Korean version of "Turn Back Time.") But their songs are primarily in Mandarin. ("Bad Alive" is mostly in English, but there are parts that are in Korean and Mandarin Chinese.) The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other NCT sub-units is because at the time of their debut there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. The company WayV is under is called Label V which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. Because of all the political issues between the Korean and Chinese governments, Kpop idols such as WayV, Lay from EXO, Zhoumi from Super Junior-M and Victoria, the leader of F(x), etc. were all separated from their Korean groups because of the restrictions China put on everything they did since 2016. Now I am nowhere near an expert on the topic, and I admit that I only understand a very minor part of what is going on between the Chinese and Korean government, but as I understand it, part of the reason for the ban on Chinese and Korean workers between the two countries is that China is refusing to align itself with the U.S. or South Korea to protect themselves with deployment of the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea. North Korea and China want to get rid of the rocket system that is meant to shoot down a nuclear missile if North Korea were to launch one at South Korea or the U.S. Another reason why China doesn't like the THAAD system is because China and the U.S. don't have the best relationship, so if the U.S. and China become on even worse terms China is afraid the U.S. could also use THAAD against them. China says the THAAD system is just provoking them to actually start a nuclear war, and until they remove it or at least move it back from the South Korean border, they will continue their ban on Korean products, workers and the Hallyu wave from working in China and for its native Chinese citizens from working with Korean companies. China feels like the Korean government is taking away its native commodities by allowing Chinese people to work in Korea. The issue is even more complicated than this, but that is one part of it. However, this doesn't always explain why some Chinese idols have been able to get around China's rules and have been able to continue working with their Kpop groups without any backlash. But all I can guess is these idols don't have any connection to mainland China. If they are from somewhere else in China, such as Hong Kong or a Chinese adjacent country like Taiwan, etc. or if they are citizens of other countries such as Thailand or Germany, the rule doesn't apply to them. All I can guess is these idols have some sort of loophole, such as they don't have any family living in mainland China, which allows them to avoid the regulations. When China first began cracking down on their citizens working in Korea there were rumors that the Chinese government was threatening to revoke the citizenship of any mainland native Chinese person who continued to do business with a Korean company and lived outside of China. This rule would have prevented Idols, such as EXO's Lay, from visiting family and doing business in China, etc. The only way for them to avoid this from happening was for them to come back to China right away and stop doing business with their Korean companies. I don't know if this was really true or if it was just a rumor, but that is what I heard. Which would explain why some Chinese Idols don't feel any pressure to stop working in Korea because they have nothing to lose if they don't have a life in China. However in the last few weeks the tensions between China and Korea have started to let up and the Chinese government has rescinded its ban on China and Korea working together, so we are starting to see our Chinese idols working in Korea again. For example, Lay, EXO's Chinese member, has recently been talking more about EXO on Chinese programs and WayV has actually been appearing on Korean variety shows and doing activities in Korea. Before this WayV, as a group, was not allowed to be associated with anything to do with Korea if they wanted to be allowed to promote in China. However, WayV even released a Korean version of their song, "Turn Back Time," which is a first for them. Also, after almost 6 years, we have seen Zhoumi, one of Super Junior's Chinese members actually back in Korea working alongside his Korean Super Junior members and he has released a song, "Starry Night" with one of his Korean members and the song has both a Chinese and Korean version. So I take all this as a good sign.
